Suggestion: I am suggesting that the /rn ** command be made available to all players of the server whilst a player is hiding in /v
Now: now when doing /rn ** nothing will appear to a normal player because the player is in vanish, and hiding, whilst still being able to talk in g chat.
Reasoning: The reason I have decided to post this suggestion is because of basic safety reasons. Players that have hid themselves in /v and have a name that is not their original names are impossible to file a complaint against, as there is no @name to post on the complaints section. I noticed this today, whilst trying to decipher a player that was saying inflammatory names, but never was able to complete the complaint because the player had hidden himself/herself using /v while also having a nickname. This poses an extremely dangerous problem in cases in which a staff member is not present/ busy with other matters/ or afk. For instance, a person using both of those features could say whatever they want without repercussions and without anybody knowing. In addition, its extremely important for me to know who a player is before I report them for something. For instance, if a player is constantly targeting and harassing me, I will either add the information to my ongoing complaint or file another with my new information, as opposed to a player that made a simple mistake, a player I never had a problem with in the past. I find it very dangerous that people can attack other players, yet get away with it because they are a nameless and faceless opponent. In addition, I commonly notice players that have the protection of these two features committing violations of the rules/ and or acting differently than they would if they were under their player name and everybody knew where the chat was coming from. In addition, the staff cannot even comment on who the person is, so I am currently left to hunt for who the person is, which takes time away from my ability to file a complaint, so in my case, the person made an infraction of the rules, and got away with it.

I seriously agree, the rules will be better enforced by this...
a scenario would be when a chat offender possessing the requisite features invades the server while there are no staff on, and while in /v, harass other players in a discriminative fashion. I'm not saying the staff won't able to do rollbacks or chat the log, its that normal players would not be able to correctly report this offender, resulting in other unforeseen problems.-

>/rn **
>shows list of every user, regardless of whether they're in vanish or not.
Let's not. Not being seen in lists is one of the key things that make vanish an attractive feature. Not to mention, even if /rn does show vanished users, there's a chance that they may be in another server, which in that case, /rn is useless. There's also a possibility that the player might be new to the server and not aware of the /rn command.
Anyways, as far as /rn evidence goes, I'd rather just not require /rn evidence at all (recommend it, though) and have a log dive be done in those cases instead.-

Even if we allowed /rn to work on everyone, there's a possibility that the user in question is on a different server than the one filing the complaint or that the user filing the complaint is not aware of the /rn command - a log dive would be needed in those cases.
Allowing /rn to work on vanish users won't solve problems and will just hurt users with vanish. Claiming that "everyone wins" simply isn't true; many users will still not have sufficient evidence to post their complaints and users will vanish will have lost an attractive aspect of their feature.-

I have no idea what the user in a different server or the user not knowing /rn has to do with anything as those would be one-offs that yeah, obviously would be handled differently depending on what the heck is going on.
This is as simple as User with /v and /nick can /pm or chat and it's fully possible the other user may not be able to identify who that player was and that's a buncha malarkey.-

Ok to make a better analogy, I will use Mr. Kennedy to explain, as located in your profile picture which states "If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich". This is similar to this situation at hand. Essentially, the reason I took it upon myself to do this is because many of the newer players and players, like myself, who do not have the features, in addition to numerous others, are greatly inconvenienced by the fact that abuses can be committed under the guise of a false name thats untraceable by players such as ourselves. The reports section, as it exists now, requires that a complaint needs a player name, and if possible needs the person to be tagged with an @ sign, so I don't see a problem in the complaints section, but rather a problem with this feature, and the great potential for abuse. Just because people purchased this feature, shouldn't give them the right to bend and skew the rules to work in their favor. I definitely recognize the importance of this feature, and if I am fortunate enough, might purchase it in the future, but I believe in my suggestion, and this is the reason its located in the suggestion section, as I am suggesting the current status quo to be changed. Simply stating that this shouldn't be changed because people payed for it is not helpful to the argument at all, as the server reserves the right to change the features to suit the server, and I decided to bring this problem to the attention of the higher ups as it has greatly inconvenienced me and many other players I witnessed the same thing happening to/ discussed this matter with. I added this here not because I am spiteful or jealous of the /v command, but rather because I have witnessed the abuse possible under it, and I believe it can be remediated simply expanding the /rn ** to any player who has decided to make their name different from their in game name.-

The solution I can think of is showing people's usernames when hovering over their nicknames in chat. No issues with vanished people.

Just because there are situations this would not solve doesn't mean there aren't plenty it would solve.
I didn't join that long ago and I will tell you that nicks confused the ever-lovin' heck out of me for a long time. That isn't good for new users. And new users are vital for our server, we shouldn't just cater to the old crowd just cuz they can't have their cake and eat it to. That is, let them chat in vanish with nicks on and with players not having anyway to determine their ign if a mod isn't able to provide it in the moment.-

How about modifying /rn in a way that lists all visible players with /rn **, but reveals hidden players when using the full nickname, e.g., /rn ThreeOneFour? Vanished users who don't talk in chat aren't affected and those who do should be identifiable.
I understand that players are supposed to enjoy their bought features. However, it should be common courtesy that you can identify the people you are talking to.
For the record - I have /v, but I have never really used it so far.-

Either what someone said actually bothers you or you're just filing a complaint to get someone you don't like in trouble.
Searching logs just for someones nickname/who said what literally takes like 15 seconds, which I have no issue doing.
Sure it's not perfect but it's easy enough.
I also like kuke's suggestion but iirc he's suggested it before and been denied.
