It doesn't say it if you don't have mail.

Otherwise it just sends it whenever you have a message from essentials

 

Honestly, just write it on a notepad. Not too hard.

 

Essentials doesn't track which messages you've seen so if you want to keep messages you're gonna see all the messages.

I'd personally prefer we keep all the messages because I like seeing that I have mail as soon as I get it if I'm online

 

It just sends it on ANY essentials notification with no distinction - Jamie would need to build in some sort of way to do that which I think he'd be unwilling to do considering people can just clear their mails.

I mean I've been around nearing 5 years now and I've never gotten a mail I've needed to keep...

They're not if you keep a clean mailbox, then the system is letting you know as soon as you get a mail. Which I like, since I keep a clean mailbox.

 

I do agree the message is excessive, and that people might have hundreds of mails, but the price of convenience is the notification of the fact that you have mail. The messages that occur with every Essentials message serve to notify you that you have something in your mailbox, and for most people, it does that exact purpose perfectly.

If you’re unwilling to type out your mail in an application like Notepad (or its Mac/Linux alternatives) you can always enable the console in your launcher and copy and paste the messages aswell.

And to answer your question, there is no config option (at least one that I remember) that disables the message. We’d need to go into the source and modify the code to get rid of it (or disable mail permissions altogether). For a function that works for the majority of users, it’d be a waste of time to fix something that isn’t broken.

In my opinion this shouldn't be removed, this takes time from Jamie to code/change config and time that is needed in several other stuff first, also this helps me confirm that I fixed my tools or fixed anyone else's while giving e-reps.

Here is how to solve the problem.

 

It is a solution, if you keep your mailbox empty then you want to know as soon as you get mail.

 

Not going to completely overhaul essentials because people are whining about getting spammed from a notification that is designed to make you clear your inbox, and not doing so.
