+1, I like having all of them besides "creative". I like that "Like" can be used for complaints, like for hacking, and scamming
Since everyone wants to get involved with the ban appeals/complaints, I feel like ratings are the silent connection that satisfies this hunger. I feel that if we removed them, there would be a lot more discussion or more people posting on threads.
Agreed. Simply rating a post what I feel like sort of get's all the aspiration to discuss it out of my system. I know that people can see what my opinion is, and I can see theirs without ever mentioning the user or breaking the server rules.
In my opinion I think that ratings are there for a reason, however I think that the rating creative should be removed from ban appeals/complaints because they are used most of the time to say negative messages. An example of this is on a ban appeal where someone is banned for trolling and says he wasn't trolling it was all a misunderstanding. Then in that case people would rate it creative to imply that the person is lying. etc.

The only reason I see why ratings should be removed is to prevent trolling. While some people suggest to remove these ratings altogether, I've devised the perfect solution which I've named, The Shizzle Compromise Step 1: post a suggestion, complaint, or ban appeal Step 2: allow said trolls to rate your thread Step 3: refrain from being a whiny little brat and understand that this is not a big deal and has absolutely no significance in reality.
This ^ You get FREE ratings towards forum trophies. I don't see why people make such a big deal out of the ratings, if it bothers you that much then just disable alerts from ratings. As i said before, and will continue to say, allowing users to rate a post allows them to share their opinion without having the need to post on it. I know users aren't supposed to discuss a ban appeal/complaint but you can't stop the users that do. If ratings get removed it will either be brought up ingame or on the thread itself. Removing the ratings would just make it worse in the long run and should just stay there. I'll say it again, you get FREE (you see that word? its the word of the day so make sure to remember it!) ratings. Im having a hard time figuring out why I want to keep this but it basically settles down to this. I see a complaint go up and I am one of the first few people to see it like always. I see that the complaint is about hacking and the user is obviously lagging and there is no proof of hacking in the video. Instead of most people who post a comment saying that, i'd just rather rate it creative to show that it is indeed a false complaint. Not all users that rate things creative are out there to troll, but most of the time to show their disagreement with it. The same goes for if I see a hacking complaint and I believe that the user indeed did hack. I would rate it winner to show my support and move on. For those of you that say "Its not up to the community to talk about or agree/disagree with". If this is the case then why is the ban appeal/complaints section there anyway? Its publicly available ,and no matter what, will always be discussed in the community. Even if multiple rules are put into play to stop the discussion of it, it will not stop. Users would use skype, private messages , and other sorts of communication to get around it, so its just easier on the staff team and users to just rate it and move on. This is just my 2 yen and will probably be my last post for these types of suggestions. I'd just like to see an answer from revan/andrew on the subject of whether or not it will be removed.
Both sides seem to be represented, and I definitely won't try to shove my opinion down peoples' throat, so I won't be arguing this any further. I shall do the same, it seems unlikely it'll happen, but it was worth a shot I suppose. I'm going to quote my previous response in Star's Suggestion here as well to show my view on the "Ratings help avoid unnecessary comments" argument. But, same with Vengful, I doubt I'll be continuing to argue this, I'd rather just see management's response.
I like the agree, and winner as 7amoodw said some are good like the ones I just listed because they manage to catch a hacker or advertiser and deserve the rating but if there was any way to only allow those that would be awesome!
The majority of people will rate it instead of posting, and people will post no matter the consequence. I feel if we remove ratings as a means of handing out your opinion then people will be so eager to say what side they are on that they will post on the thread. And ratings are more "mean" than postings, not at all. Mean people will mean, and if you get a rating thats creative, your state of mind should be: That being said, its not really a big deal and if you are really hurt by it, which I know I was as a resident then you just need to accept it, because there will never be a possible way to disallow people to people to voice their opinions.
