As an avid sportsbook partaker and a lover of Hockey I can't help but notice a pretty large flaw in terms of accuracy to the outcome of the game in the NHL games which are hosted on this site. After the NHL lockout over 10 years ago ties (draws) were removed from the league with the replacement of an "overtime" during which both teams play handicapped for 5 minutes and a shootout if no one scores during the overtime.
Despite this, the bets for the NHL games on this site still include a "draw" option. This is quite deceiving in modern-day NHL as there are no more ties in the league anymore.
I suggest that the "draw" option gets removed entirely from the choices and that the default just be "Team A wins" or "Team B wins" irrelevant to whether the winning team won in regular time, OT or in shootout.
No one wants to bet on a draw, they want "their" team to win and the fact that you can lose your money even if the team that you bet on wins the game is extremely discouraging. I would wager that the community would be more inclined to bet on the NHL games if the draw option were to be removed. Of course, the odds would have to be lowered for both "Team A wins" and "Team B wins" to keep the profits that the average user makes near zero but it would encourage more users to wager their stagnant money and prevent the server's economy from inflating to such a great degree.

We never used to be offered odds on the draw here on ECC however the odds are not anywhere near as good as they are now without it. Any irl sportsbook that offers odds on hockey does offer odds on the draw so this isn't unique to our sportsbook. As much as I hate losing when games do result in a draw, I enjoy the enhanced odds.
I'm sure if you requested ML bets for certain games this is something Andrew would offer but expect odds of around 0.48-

The odds without draw were disgusting literally were given like .5 and 1.00 odds at some times. With draw you have a chance at profiting with hockey

I'm fairly certain the reason that we have the draw option as the setup is that the high rollers prefer it (and the better odds it brings), and ultimately money talks.

Well the odds of the games don't have to be so bad. I would think that if both teams had a roughly equal chance of winning then odds of 0.8-0.9 would be fair. If you compare it to something that has little to no strategy towards the outcome such as lotto giving 85% returns with little variance over huge sample sizes then I don't know why sports betting which I think Andrew would agree has considerable skill to it (I'd bet that there are some professional betters even). Additionally, if you look at other sports (basketball as an example) their odds are exactly what I hoped for earlier in this post. The two "most even" games that were posted for tonight had odds of 0.76 v. 1.10 and 0.68 v. 1.25. If this centering of 0.9 or so could just be transferred over to hockey, that would be great!
Just because straight Win/Lose was done "poorly" in the past for hockey doesn't mean that it always has to be that way. -

Or when no one is using sportsbook. It's basically andrew looking at the situation like this. If people are going to keep betting with these odds why raise them and put money into the economy. Server side gambling is always about taking money out of the economy. If people lottod as much as they do now with 20% tax it would be the same thing, the tax would be raised. -

Nope.
If you don't like a specific bet, don't bet.
Nothing decieving about it @Delucaco you just don't know how sportsbooks work IRL.
As the book runner my goal isn't to make you happy and win money, it's to make you bet and lose money. :)
As the bettor your goal isn't to make me happy and give me your money, it's to make me pay you and take my money. :)
