Last time the market was re-designed, those shops actually gained value :b

Anywho, there needs to be a complete overhaul of the market. If you want it to look good visually, you have to give it a theme on design. If you want it to operate well from an economical standpoint, you need to make the layout first, and see if it makes sense.

+1 to the suggestion. The market was changed because of lag but I honestly feel like more effort could be put into making the "market" look like a market AND w/o lag, instead of 4 lines of shops.

 

I would be interested to see any rough idea you had in mind... I think the more consistent shop sizes are preferable to the old market where they were nearly all different from one another. Not only does it make for easier designing, but stops awkward or small from remaining empty when others are always rented.

Likewise, that 'prime' locations are not just in the best locations, or the biggest, but that their value remains apparent in terms of ease of access. Those of us who have these locations dedicate time to keeping them updated, stocked, even pretty, and they have been in place for months, if not years. Changing these stations, or even adding additional 'prime' locations (we went from two, to four, to eight of the largest shops already), makes it harder to keep the prime locations valuable the more of them there are.

Some have commented that the current market looks more like a park than a market. Maybe it does... but, there is nothing wrong with that. It's rather sprawling, the decor is easy to look at and certainly more appealing than a brick wall, and I would hope that any new layout might incorporate that appeal of a nice atmosphere along with the utility of shop spaces.

 

I agree with KMax that there is nothing wrong with the market having some "park" like areas - and I also believe that was done to help reduce lag. I am also concerned about where my shop would end up since even though I am at the "end of the line", the portal makes access to the shops quick and easy and would hate to lose that in a new design.

 

Yes, this would be good for users not to run around as much wasting their hunger.

I like my shop location, don't wanna lose my spot, as it has good value. As I said a while ago pictures/rough graph or something might help.

 

-1, I don't want to get used to anything new. Atleast its very obvious to locate your shop. Red, 7th row, right side and etc. Its an easy location system.

+1 It takes too long to travel between the shops. I could go for a compromise between the old layout and new: a market area that is consolidated enough to look like a market complex but arranged to minimize lag. Also, I only had lag (even on my laptop) in the markets until I downloaded optifine

 

I would love to see a redesign, I my opinion the Market is too linear and disjointed from each other. The current layout gives the impression that there are four separate markets, I think that that is a mistake. There should only be one market in a beautiful setting.

I agree... A new, fresher design would draw the attention of new users.

 

We should do this, especially since tons of people seem to be selling off their market shops. Maybe a smaller market or like a rental price change too?
