+1 I agree there is no reason for players to comment there if they are not involved so why should they be allowed to rate comments? It's just a way to bypass the rules and everyone knows it. It's up to the mods involved and the players involved to discuss the situation if it doesn't pertain to you there is no reason to comment. Players comment on ban appeals when they are sorry for what they have done to make fun of them and that's cyber-bullying. The same goes for when a mod bans a player other ethical rule following players should be happy they should feel sorry that the person his or herself in the situation and isnt an honest player not happy and rate a ban with "winner" or "friendly" it's just childish.
I understand all of this and how it can be abused, but that's not always the case. In a complaint or whatever I'll use the ratings to show my support one way or another. It usually starts with wanting to say something, then disregarding it to keep myself out of trouble for posting. So I just give the closest rating possible for the situation at hand, most of the time I don't rate any of the posts at all. Anyways, if you take away ratings more people will feel inclined to post.
