This! Mission and I have been on many forums and this is the first place where I've seen staff apps public. +1
+1 Staff applications should be private. Having application be public is quite an unusual practice which is unique to ECC. Having applications public is the equivalent of a company posting all the resumes it receives on their website, it's a silly thing to do.
Agreed. I think the applications from the last round of @Chiblin and, in particular, @xboyfernz, are perfect examples of why applications should be private. The latter ended up with a meme among the replies. Memes shouldn't be on applications for formal roles such as this one.
I totally agree i had no chance of getting to be staff with that angry mob and im the probably the most qualified to as being a prefect
I actually like having the staff applications public. It allows players to see who's applying and give feedback to their application. Not to mention that feedback helps gather a public consensus on people's opinions on player X getting moderator. It gives people transparency.
On the other hand, it gives rise to many needless conflicts. (Yes, I know the conflicts prove many things regarding the applicant's attitude towards criticism/other users. But we figure stuff like that out from in-game behaviour already.)
Lets be realistic here; Any thread cam turn into a flame war. Any thread. As silly as it sounds, we've seen many suggestions and even ROLE PLAY THREADS, as silly as it sounds. We shouldn't be privatizing a thread for one unavoidable reason.
Well, the staff applications are consistently turning into flame wars. Other threads are not. (although that might be less now that the staff apps are open forever)
