Preamble: This suggestion is NOT about what you might expect from the title (i.e. banning/endorsing player-run casinos in any way). At least not directly.
Minecraft Name:
314.
Suggestion:
I will not suggest to ban casinos like normal player run lotteries. What I do suggest is the requirement to inform players about the importance of screenshots before playing.
Id est, the host must inform them that it is recommended to take screenshots of the game. This must be done by either telling them in chat or by having a sign at the rule board.
Reason:
Experience. In most arguments about casinos (at least the ones I have witnessed so far) we have one person's word against another's as neither of the players have screenshots to prove their point. This causes point- and endless discussions if the player claims they have won and the host claims they have lost. All of this could be avoided by making it a requirement to inform players about the importance of screenshots when using casinos.

We already advise players to take screenshots for financial transactions and agreements like this. I don't see how this will change anything.

-1, a casino is a transaction just like buying features, selling tools, or anything else. We do not need a rule forcing casino owners to inform there customers of how to protect themselves. We may as well also put this requirement on every transaction.

Like United has stated above, we already advise players to take screenshots of financial transactions. Whilst I do see the benefits of this, there isn't much point, and I doubt many would actually take screenshots to be completely honest.
I'm definitely going to do this while setting up my own casino however.-

I think its a nice thought but I think that a lot of financial lessons both irl and online most especially those having to do with gambling must be learned the hard way.
But above all I think that forcing player run casinos to explicitly explain why gambling is a terrible idea when ol' server lottery doesn't stop to try to come forward with what a scam it is before you buy a ticket is very much against the entrepreneurial spirit and therefore, not good for ECC. That's practically like the big business govt. pushing small businesses out by making it harder to sell something/provide a service.-

Well, The lottery isn't going to take your money, it is a game based on chance, and guarenteed payout when you win. (no risk of actual scamming)
Player run casino's do not have that ability. This suggestion literally just asks you to put a sign up next to where you have your rules for the casino. Even at real live Casino's they say "bet responsibly" or something along those lines. The only way this suggestion would hurt a casino, is if the host intends to scam.
+1 for this.-

As it has been said above, we already suggest taking screenshots of any transactions. Even if we enforced a sign rule in front of casinos there would still be just as many arguments.
I have had a bit of experience with people losing big in casinos and complaining. Any time someone loses a lot of money there is always speculation as to whether or not the transaction was legitimate. What people don't understand is (and what many mods don't understand either, from what I have seen) is that it is the consumer's responsibility to provide evidence to prove the casino holder guilty. NOT the other way around (i.e. player A says player B scammed them at a casino, player B does not need to provide evidence that they have done nothing wrong). I personally think that we should be informing staff about how to handle arguments regarding casinos. If we do that then we can handle these arguments much more efficiently instead of trying to find ways to keep arguments from happening (which won't happen. There will always be arguments).-

That's a very good point.
But I think that instead of making every casino place like a surgeon general's warning on front of their casino like it was a pack of cigarettes that the rules already existing stating that you should take screen caps of player to player financial interactions simply be changed to list player casinos as one of the places to do that at. A fair warning but no weird monoliths about video taping your transactions in front of every casino spitting on entrepreneurial spirit.-

+1 I agree.

+1, I've seen people complaining too much in global saying "can a mod please come to warp debt" and I think this would prevent those situations.
-
The intentions behind this are good but it won't be effective. Making people actually say it slows things down too much, and having it on a sign will just have people say they didn't see the sign.
