I noticed that furnace exp was turned off, and I had an idea, what if we had certain jobs that we would apply for (Miner, Farmer, Blacksmith,Shopkeep, etc.) and then when we did those jobs we received exp from it!
For example, I want to be a potion maker. Whenever I make a potion there is a small chance that I will get exp. Blacksmiths would get furnace exp chances, Farmers when harvesting, miners when mining, shop owners when people buy things. I think there are possibilities in this, even if the idea isn't hammered out yet.
To limit this, people could only have one job at a time, and it would be semi-permanent (in that you couldn't change it every day). Having drawbacks to the jobs would be nice too to even them out.
Please tell me what you think, and throw out some more ideas!

Interesting, but, this would flood the exp market quite quickly. Exp market is already pretty saturated and I feel like that isn't very good.

That was one of my worries. If we did this, i feel like we should take exp out of coal. Coal is pretty common, and i know i get a lot of exp from it. Redstone and the others are rare enough. Plus, coal would still produce exp only in the form of fuel for a furnace.
The other way is to keep exp in coal and move to other specific rewards other than exp. Say the people who have these jobs can sell their items to the server at a better price. This would cause a higher demand for these things since they can simply be sold to server at a much better price than before.
Say Blacksmiths can sell bricks of ore to the server at %10 more than anyone else. Or farmers the same way, but only maybe with seeds or something. Chefs could sell crafted food items to the server at a good price.
Thanks for the input revan!
