I was simply basing it off of the fact they can now do trade signs, and shopkeeper came to mind. It doesn't necessarily have to be that name it's just what came to my head at the time. I'm all for name suggestions.
If "hardcore" means babying residents to make the leap look less daunting then ok. Its just my personal opinion that I think this is unneeded
It's hardcore in the sense that you need to pay more but the gap between ranks is smaller. It's not babying, far from it even. It's incentivising ranking up more.
Call it Merchant. How about this. First rank is called Homeless. You aren't even allowed to be added to towns because you're a dirty homeless noob. Go live in nature like a hippie until you raise 15k to become a Resident. Resident would allow you to be added to towns so you can now get yourself a home. The next rank, Merchant, allows you to place trade signs and to own a market shop. Then comes Mayor and all the rest. Sent from my LG-VM701 using Tapatalk 2
Yes in reality this makes it more difficult to get mayor, however it puts them under an illusion it is easier.
What would the name of the rank be other than "Shopkeeper"? I don't really like that name. As for the suggestion, I kind of disliked it at first because I've never have supported nor wanted a "buffer" rank. I'm enjoying it now because it gives users a chance to show that they can indeed make it on this server. It also takes money out of the economy.
I'm on the fence with a new rank... As well, this has been suggested many times in the past. They were all denied or died out. (All those suggestions were asking for a "Governor" rank to fit in with our ranking theme.) I like the idea of another rank between Resident and Mayor, for the more money/harder "hardcore"/whatever. However, the mess of moving trade sign usage (don't forget LWC stuff, too...) up would make many residents feel crap, and cause other issues with trade signs already in place. As well, it would make the Resident rank pretty much... useless, as it would have no perks (because all of the VERY FEW perks it already has would move up).
The issue with suggestions like Governor was that there were no perks to getting it, even after being cheap. Basically, we should have Residents who own spawn shops to get promoted to Merchant, and then as for placed signs... I really don't know. I don't know what happens if we take away Resident's ability to create signs- I don't know if they can break them in general or cannot create only. If they can still break their signs, but can't create, we should be fine on that part.
Let me get this straight.... You are talking about how 15k is very difficult for a builder to get. 15-85k is a large portion. Builders get to resident and get no perks, except spawn shops and more lwc. What are these people gonna do in these spawn shops? You feel that it is difficult to get from 15-85k, YET you still feel that these new users should have to pay another 35k just to place goddamned trade signs? The logic behind this whole rank is idiotic. If it is hard enough for a builder to earn 15k, how is it gonna help them and the economy if they have to pay another 30k+ just to be able to sell items? No. Just no.
Hello AgentHare, I have to say, this suggestion has intrigued me to actually see what I could do with it. Thank you for posting, and I would just like to contribute my thoughts towards this topic. If a new rank were to be added, I would like to see this... Builder - Free (No perks) Resident - $10,000 (Trade signs) Citizen - $40,000 (Add/Remove members from towns) Mayor - $100,000 (Town + add/remove owners from towns) President - $250,000 (Town) The differences between the words "Resident" and "Citizen" are that Resident is used to describe someone that lives somewhere, but does not permanently live there. Citizens are permanently there or otherwise known for being born in the country they live in. Thus, I believe the rank up from Resident should be Citizen because you have proven to stay a bit longer or spend a bit more money on the server. The differences of the ranks Resident and Citizen in-game would be that Residents cannot add or remove users from membership to a town, while upgrading to Citizen gives you this access. As for the price changes, I tried to just make them more even and challenging, as I believe EcoCityCraft's currency keeps rising exponentially. The point of Resident being at such a low price would be for easier ranking, therefor possibly resulting in a higher ratio for newer users to stay on EcoCityCraft for a longer period of time. These is just my point of view, feel free to add or change things about it to make it better, I am up for new ideas! Thanks for reading, Blowtube123
Because towns are too common currently and making them cheaper would defeat the purpose of trying to prevent towns.
