It's not just the items, it's the people that want their town in one of these biomes.


Anyway, back on topic, expanding the map will settle us for now, but were only setting ourselves up for future problems. Map resets may simply be a way of life on servers...I'm unsure...

 

Most servers make an extra map. We don't, we expand our map to insane proportions. Also note that adding 1k blocks to every direction would increase our map size to 210%, that's more than DOUBLE what we have now.
Just a small expansion is all we need.

 

But...

30,000 times 30,000 = 900,000,000

32,000 times 32,000 = 1,024,000,000

I'm unsure how that adds 110% more map, because that only adds 124,000,000 more blocks to our 900,000,000 blocks...

In that case...it does add a tiny bit...perhaps bumping it up to 25% would make things go smoothly. Otherwise you've got only 1,000 blocks from the old map to the edge of ECC.

 

Personally I would be fine with just the mining world because as it has been stated previously by many other players, a major world reset would cause havoc. People would quit because they would lose all their awesome achievements (i.e builds, majorly developed towns). I would say that I'm an advocate for the slight main world size increase just so people do have the opportunity to have new biome towns. Now another option would be just to go to mining world and collect all the new items and whatnot and therefore you would have the resources to recreate a new biome town yourself. It would take longer but it would also guarantee you the chance to have one of these new biome towns.

 

I personally want to move to a new biome. As a resident and wasn't thinking and put my oasis town in a Taiga. I know...stupid. If Andrew increased the size of the map, then people unhappy with their biome could pay let say, 20k for their town to be moved to a new biome and their old town deleted. Where your old town was could be regenerated to make space for another town in search for this. Also, is there a way to lower the amount of ocean in the world, turning maybe 20% of the current ocean into newer biomes? I don't know if this would work.

 

I know, is it possible regenerate the current ocean to 1.7 biomes when it comes around?

 

There are towns in the ocean, not to mention it would look horrifying

 

Will there be a mining world reset so these biomes can be used?

 

Mining world will reset as usual, and will always have the latest world generation.

Andrew does not support town transfers so would he not allow me to put my towns bought from other users onto the new map or would he allow me to transfer my towns over, if so then+1 if not then -1000

 

Matteymoo2 that sounds about right to me. That's been my exact problem with it too.
