[Suggestion] Melon Swords in 1.8

As was stated in another thread,
Nothing will change, people who bought melon swords will lose there value on the melon sword.

Just because people invest money into a tool doesnt mean that if it goes wrong you get your money back or something that dos work.
Thats not how it works in real life...

So people who have melon swords will just have to take the loss and start again.
Or if they are smart, sell there melon sword when the price is at its peak, or farm like crazy now to afford something else at the turn of the update.

I find it funny how people think they deserve to get something as good after they choose to buy it themselves.
You didnt have to buy one Now your paying the price.

 

I don't even own one and I think that is a horrible attitude to have about your fellow players and server.

People themselves dont receive bailouts, the company does,
The people who invest in the shares of a company dont get there money back if they are not happy with the share prices, they have to get out buy selling there shares at a lower price and moving on.

People dont get bailout when companies go bust, well i have never heard of such thing. Otherwise i will go return my kids games to woolworths and ask for my money back, even though they dont exist anymore.


Also another example

If someone bought the extcommands feature back in the day when you couldnt buy eff5's with xp. So they bought the feature because they wanted to create eff5's with the anvil.
Now you can buy eff5's, the anvil is now useless.
So you think they should get a refund because the feature doesnt work anymore?
Or do the just get on with it and use the feature for other things?

You can still use your Sword for melon farming, sure its not as good as something else, but you can still use it...

 

False. Most governments do not issue bailouts, and I'm assuming that you're American, based on simple probability. The US government has issued bailouts in the past for the sole purpose of helping the economy/American industry as a whole. They didn't do it to be nice, and they had no obligation to do so.

That's different, the extcommands feature still is extremely useful still and came with other effects. Plus, an anvil sells for what, $200+ back to the server. Also, with the 1.8 update affecting exp, ECC took initiative and implemented the current exp system with the signs and whatnot to prevent a crash of the exp market. If there is another portion of the same event, shouldn't their be proper action taken to handle all of the 1.8 update, not just part of it (the exp). If we took action to save the exp market, we should also take action against what other markets will be destroyed by the 1.8 update, melon swords and otherwise.

P.S. I removed my earlier comments about government bailouts, as I did not want to get on a "touchy" political subject and to avoid a flame war.

 

Melon swords are a product of voting and the nstar rewards. It would be bad for voting and for the server if one of the star tools became useless with no compensation.

Some people would quit, some people would stop bothering with star tools and nstars.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. If players who are that well of they can afford a melon sword quit because that was there only money source o.e it gives me shivers for the future of ecc and of the world

 

Not sure about that...it will be a part of vanilla and the current plugins we have can only prevent placing...not sure though. If anybody is informed better than me, feel free to correct me.
