raise melon slices from 10 cents to 20 cents. it takes either 8-9 melon slices to make a 2 dollar block so why are they 10 cents each not 20..?
I'm pretty sure raising the price of the slices wouldn't affect the price and value of melon blocks and melon farming with melon sword. Also who can get a efficiency on sword anyway to do melon slices farming?
But how many slices do you get if you just farmed melon slices no where near 9 per melon. So it won't really change investing in a melon sword
Don't forget melon sword does have efficiency 5 while normal diamond sword does not, its about speed too.
Make them 20 cents. 20/9 is 22, but since ECC generally has rounded numbers for prices have it set at 20. You can already put 9 melon slices in a crafting table to make a melon to sell for $1.10 extra, this suggestion is just saving people from that hassle.
Many replied, but all of them forgot to mention the most important but obvious thing: if you have 9 melon slices, you can always just craft 1 melon block. You can always craft melon blocks from melon slices, what you can't normally do is get melon slices from melon blocks: indeed you would have to place the melon block somewhere and then break it (getting no more than 9 slices, usually less). So, you see, the real advantage of having a silk tool to farm melons is that you get exactly 1 melon per melon, and not the fact that you get blocks rather than slices: that is indeed a disadvantage, because you can always make blocks from slices, but not the other way around. (yes, because melons are made to be sold, you don't care, but what if the main driver to farm melons were potions? melon swords would be totally useless) Therefore, as the OP, it really makes no sense at all that slices return $0.10: you can just take 9 slices (worth: $0.90), craft one block (worth: $2.00) net gain: $1.1. Yes, it takes time to craft blocks from slices, but 1) many have /condense, 2) seriously? it takes less than 20 seconds to manually convert a full inventory of slices into blocks, gaining ($2.00-$0.90)*36*64/9=$281.6: that negligible time is worth more than 50k/hour. +1, I hate nonsense. (well, when it's useless and harmless it's ok, but prices can't be dumb in an economy server) p.s.: see this thread for more details: https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/where-can-i-sell-broken-melons.155932
While in general your argument is pretty good, that line is not. Players who have /condense won't be farming melons for money without msword. Anyway marking this as under review.
