If x is the number of tickets bought or players involved, what if the 1/(x+1) chance did not remove the money, but moved it into the next lotto with a small reduction - arbitrarily say 5-10%?

This way, if only 4 people lotto, there's a 1/5 chance that no ticket holder will win, and the money is moved into the next auction. This would (sort of) make it like a real lotto, where the lotto pot has a chance to build up over time. It would also create risk for people in late night who are the sole participant in a lotto.

-1 I fail to see how adding the chance of nobody winning lotto could make it more fun.

This is sweet! This would eliminate so much money from the economy, also, it would eliminate big lottos, so people wouldn't become instantly rich. There would be a constant flow of small amounts of money (which is good). Also, it would make Lazy People (People who make 100% of their money off lotto) actually work for it, or be poor. This is one of the best ideas of heard for ECC in a long while.
