Because unlike melon farming, it requires actual effort and care.

    EXP would crash...
    The economy would be inflated...
    ECC's economy would be destroyed...

Does melon farming not inflate the economy?

I mean we wouldn't reset the mining world anymore.

A Melon Sword is a big investment, which just like in real life, takes some good time's work to be able to afford in the first place. Think of it like a small business, that because of your previous hard work now allows you to make more money in exchange of less work.

    Also...

Companies like Blockbuster don't go bankrupt because of an inevitable doom caused by "a world change". They go bankrupt because they fail to adapt to the new public demands brought by this world change, and fail to innovate to face their competitors properly. At a time, Blockbuster even had the opportunity to buy Netflix, but decided to pass. So you could say that their bankruptcy is none other than their own fault.

Just like that, Melon Swords owners have had to face reductions in the Melon Blocks price in the past, which meant a couple times significant profit losses. If people decide to quit farming, well, then you can say their small companies have gone out of business. But there will always be other companies that will still do their best to survive, and continue doing the best they can to make some money. Companies like Microsoft and Apple were founded way before Blockbuster, and they're still around, aren't they? Looks like this "inevitable world change" isn't as scarily decisive as it sounds...

Also about this, since you don't own a Melon Sword, it wouldn't create the slightest change in your gameplay. So nothing is stopping you from going mining, wheat farming, cocoa farming or whatever it is you prefer to do for money.

I'm sorry but It simply looks as if this suggestion has the intention to hinder certain people's ways of making money rather than actually creating a change that could be the best option for the community as a whole.

And just in case you're wondering, I do not own a Melon Sword.

Mining makes more than melon farming. Even eff5 mining beats melon farming. If anything, people choosing melons over mining reduces the rate of inflation..

No, you still have to be lucky to be able ores, and a salary may have an average, but its not always constant. You could also die.

Whereas with melons, you make 15k/hr, going up and down rows of melons, then /sell all, and you have lots of money. Hardly any luck, chance or effort involved.

Theres no risk or effort required in melon farming. You have to click, sure, but nothing compared to randomly getting finds in the mining world, mining.

Mining isn't as risky as one might think. I don't have fly+ nor pyro+. All you need is a set of prot iv and you're safe, from anything.

This whole thread was started with a reference to Blockbuster. I am old enough to remember blockbuster. I also remember video kingdom which was similar but with vhs tapes (google it). I do see what you are saying about the economy changing. The thing you may be missing though is that this server pushed Melon Swords. It did so as a way to introduce the Nether Star market to ECC. There are some companies in real life that may be better examples of this relationship. The Auto Industry in America or the American Banking industry would be a couple. Those cooperate giants have suffered in the past and the United States Government has stepped in to "bail out" these entities. The reason is because a large part of the international economy is dependent upon the continued success of these giants. There are several players on ECC who have invested highly in The Melon Industry. It would be detrimental to the server as a whole if all that hard work was simply wiped away.

Personally, I really don't care a ton. I have a melon sword, but I find melon farming to be quite boring. I can't handle doing it for long periods of time. I really enjoy mining and it does make more money than melon farming in my experience. Also, I have had my sword since way early in the history of melon farming. It has paid for itself several times over for me. I think that gives me a unique perspective on the melon farming situation. I do not believe that I am really biased either way, instead I see this as a serious issue for the stability of the server economy.

If you disagree with me, that is ok. Please do it respectfully and with tact. No need to turn this into a flame war.
    Peace,
    Sheepie

I make 16k an hour with an eff5/fort3/unb3 pick it's better than a melonsword and it costs about 980k less or maybe 1980k now with the increased nstar prices

Let people have their tool and let them waste time trying to make "easy money". if you want real profit you go mining. so people with the melonswords are simply making a bad investment to begin with.

I wouldn't say that melon swords are a bad investment. I make 18K pr hour when farming with my melon sword, and most miners make 12-13K pr hour. So that is a 5-6K difference. Is that difference worth 900K? Maybe not, BUT there is a huge market for renting melon swords. I can make up to 70K pr day just by renting it out, and in the mean time I get do to other thing on ECC, it could be farming building or playing sg which can also give you extra money on top of what you already make.

So for me 900K for a Melon Sword is definitely worth it for me, I easily get profit 1-2 weeks after i bought it.

So personally i really hope that the server keeps the melon sword alive.
