I know this is cruel to people who paid 750k-1million for Msword but as a pump axe user I would hate for this suggestion to be implemented. This is a hardcore economy server sell it for a discounted price about now. And like Andrew would probably say Deal with it

ECC started without Melon Swords and will survive and flourish after Melon Swords.
I agree with the people who say deal with it,
Just like the cactus farmers of old, we had to deal with it when our source was taken away, you find new ways ;)

I think this is very much needed. As an example, would it be like the reverse of leaf breaker - but on melons?

First off pumpkin axes cost like 20k, mswords cost around 1mil these days. Thats a 980k difference. Just because you have a pumpkin axe doesnt mean its going to screw over all the users who currently own mswords. And I doubt andrew will ever say "Deal with it" when it comes to melon swords going to waste. Maybe you should go with your amazing 3 word advice and deal with the fact that continuing with melons instabreaking via pumpkin axe will lead to disasters.

 

Other solutions:

A. Andrew finds a way to disable the change allowing axes to break melons faster
B. Andrew simply gets a custom plugin made that whenever you hit a melon with an axe you get mining fatigue 2 (or whatever makes you break them as fast as you do now... andrew could make the mining fatigue level correspond with the efficiency level on the axe) just from touching the melon. (Lasts 1 second)
C. Andrew lowers the price of melons and raises the speed of melon swords so that they make the amount they do now

 

C. --Idk how much faster you can get than instabreak, but I do think a+b could work.

 

I mean efficiency 5 pumpkin axe break speed on pumpkins :p
Which is indeed faster than the efficiency 5 melon sword break speed on melons.

You do realise that in 1.8 the breaking speed for melons is the speed of breaking pumpkins with eff 5 right? Im just saying that you can't really get any faster than that, therefore I don't think "C" would work.

This is something Mojang implemented not to be cruel to Mellon sword owners but to make it easy for more people to get food in-game. No one who decided this update said "let's mess up a star tool on ECC hehehe" this is just something that happened. It's not Mojang's fault a huge majority of your assets are completely dependent on one item .-. Honestly it was just bad luck for melon sword owners. Your on a harcore economy boys and girls suck it up no one is going to hold your hand and say I'll fix the mean game makers because you lost some money. I would suggest just dealing with it if this comes to pass and take it as a lesson not to let one item get so pumped up. I personally take this as a lesson and find it mildly interesting how fragile some players money making strategies are if one loss is such a game changing life crushing blow to them :p

however I do think this sucks for melon sword owners I'm not going to say I don't feel sorry for them /: i do. It sucks such a huge part of their investments are going down the drain. That's not cool but know you weren't targeted personally every melon sword owner chose to buy this sword and chose to take loans for it and chose to invest all this time and effort into obtaining this item.

This was all on the player who decided to obtain this item. The server owes you nothing and shouldn't have its very mechanics changed because of one item.

This thread is so ridiculously pathetic. The people with-out Melon Swords just want people with them to suffer, so they can make themselves seem better. Not one use without a MelonSword has +1'ed this suggestion. Stop being to petty and think about the server as a whole.
