[Suggestion] Help Pay Back Scammed Players

Scamming can't be prevented - Modern Banking System, Est. 1472

 

How exactly would we prevent scamming? We have staff approved deals, we heave a searchable appeals forum, posts giving transaction saftey tips, feedback, etc.

There. Are. So. Many. Valuable. Resources. Available.

But scamming still happens! What else is there to do?

 

Well we could enact this suggestion +9000

 

How about;

1. Don't let scammers come back
2. Make heftier laws/rules
3. Make it so that everyone must file a contract

 

My ass. I can guarantee you that there would be an extremely minimal amount of people that would actually give to a fund without anything in return except the feel-good feeling, with no recognition. Ain't nobody gonna donate without a medal. Simple as that.

I have no opinion on #1 but for #2 tell me some rules you think would help stop scamming. As for number 3 I think you shouldn't have to file everything down. It's a lot of work of the staff and people can still scam. I've signed contracts for every deal I've made involving my loans and I've gotten scammed.

Notice how 1. People have already clearly stated they would be willing to donate for the sake of helping people. 2. Also notice how my posts were arguing that we should have medals and the medals aren't bad so please actually know what you're responding to before opening your mouth.

 

First off the only one that has any realalistic potential of happening is the seccond option.
1. There's a few things wrong with this option A. What if someone honestly failed to pay off a loan. Perma banned. B. The scammed never get paid back C. Most serious scammers have proven theyre just willing to make alt accounts and scam rather than appealing and becoming productive members of ecc.
2. The rules for scamming are pretty hefty as it is and despite all that people still scam and even after appealing they persist to scam so I wouldn't say "Well they aren't hefty enough" is a good argument because even after multiple users have recieved the most severe punishments short of an absolute perma ban they still continue to scam, and as I stated above perma banning all scammers wouldn't work and would have massive negative effects.
3. A. For this to work it would mean this would be taken for all means of player-player trade. Including erepairs, auctions and simple trades, this would have serious negative effects on the player-player trade and would slow down things A LOT. B. This would put a MASSIVE add on to the staff to do list which is already huge. C. Since when do contracts stop scammers? Even in a contract people have still scammed and this isn't going to change now all it will do is help increase the odds of justice being taken against scammers.

Over all even if all these are added it wouldn't eradicate scamming completely. If there is still scamming there is still victims. Those victims need help and we can give it to them with this suggestion.

 

1. I don't actually remember more than 3 people (if that) saying that they would donate towards them medal. This thread has become too long for me to remember, but I don't recall too many people saying that they would up and donate no matter what. (As for the people that said they would play lotto, that doesn't count)
2. I was rebutting your argument. I stated that the amount of donations would drop significantly without a medal. Reread my post please.

Also, enough with this medal bullshit. If you really are going to help out, make your own damn charity. If you don't, my point will be proven. I think it already has...

 

1. Irl will always be more important than a game and sometimes irl will get in the way of games. What happens when someone gets a loan and then realizes they can't pay it back because of family, school, etc. This would completely stop any sort of payment plan/loan deals because people would be scared of being perma banned for being late.

3. Why? How is going onto the forums and making a deal instead of making a deal in game going to stop scamming?

 

1. If your only intention was to rebutt my argument please explain your "my ass" comment at the beginning. You did essentially agree with what I'm saying you didn't know what I was saying when you jumped to open your mouth.
2. Let's say 3 did say that. It's probabally wrong but I'm not going back and counting on 27 pages. As for the people that said they'd play lotto thats a counter argument against one of your past arguments but that's not my focus here so ima agree for this argument it doesn't count. But this number isn't showing how many people are going to donate. It shows people are willing to donate for the sake of helping people.

So far you haven't adressed my points there and made no response to my arguments against the charity, and idk what point me not making a charity will do. I'm not really active anymore so if I made a charity it wouldn't prove anything and it wouldn't do anything.

 

If the same person scams three times, do you think it would be an accident each of those times? I doubt it. Negative effects?! We would get more new players a chance to get dedicated instead of just clinging on to old people.

 

In real life people scam yes but if someone defaults on their loans 3 times then it's not entirely because they're out there to scam but may just be due to high rates, low income, general economy, and in this case playtime.

 

I want some proof then. Anybody on this server who has defaulted on three loans?

 

If someone defaults on three loans, they shouldn't have been given a loan anyway. Pointing the finger to the loaner.

 

You're asking for a minecraft player to find someone who defaulted on 3 loans so you can hear my argument.

Yes but if the loaner gave them money then the loaner shouldn't get a free refund via this service. That's why i agree with the previously mentioned risk assessment idea to measure why you should be payed.
