[Suggestion] Help Pay Back Scammed Players

1/10 is an inaccurate perspective. You have no testing backing it up. You have no data backing it up. You just thought 1/10 was a reasonable number to describe the system when again you have nothing backing it up. The only part you took out of my entire post to respond to was "There is not a 100% guarantee to get your money back". This is true there won't be enough money to confiscate for every scam every week I won't deny that. This suggestion however effectively provides hope to the scammed which is often enough to keep people playing and it confiscates for some of the scams. How much it will account for isn't something we know for sure, so you can't just label it 1/10 and call it ineffective based off a number you pulled out of a hat.

 

They should be, thats what perma ban means- permament bans.

 

There are truly perma bans. They are usually just for more serious offenses than scamming.

 

Like what?

 

Serious economic exploitation, hacking of the server. Things of that nature.

That's a factual number. There are more scams per week than you would think. Just because there may have only been four filed complaints, there are much more that go on in-game.

 

First off you have no facts backing your statistic up, so no It's not a factual number. 2. In order to recover confiscation they would still have to prove they were scammed and take evidence just like everyone else. 3. To have a "factual number" you actually need facts backing up that number.

About 50% of they complaints are for the 1 person...

Seems a trend was started when slvr was linked to a second account that was used for scamming. Since then we have now had 2 more users create second accounts for the purpose of scamming. Each of these cases are all closely linked with "lotto addictions".

The problem is these users know that if they don't win lotto with the money they have loan/scammed they will be banned and that on appeal they will be unbanned to start the lotto cycle over again. This has to be fixed as more users are taking advantage of the system here at ecc while exploiting those the community needs most builders and newer players who have likely spent hours gathering funds.

I accept the people who have scammed should be given a second chance but please do not allow these users to return simply to play the lotto. It's wrong, Let them return but make them farm, mine or work for others for this money to be returned.

 

How about we solve the dang problem instead of admitting to defeat?

 

1. That doesn't support any of your claims. 2. Clearly this isn't an average week because the vast majority of the complaints belong to 1 user. 3. Most scamming complaints are later dismissed for varying reasons.

 

Are you saying we ban people who recently scammed from lotto until they get their depts paid off?

Alright, 9 complaints in one week. That's all that's needed. And for the ones that are dismissed, it's usually because the user intended to scam, but came to his senses and paid the user back. There's an notorious player who does this. It supports my claim through that it happens too often, but 10 a week is average. And those are just the documented ones...

 

Even if this does weakly support 10 claims a week this doesn't prove your point. First off this is a week. A week. Not an average. Second of all
providing this is like providing half a fraction and calling it a full fraction. Even if you have out of 10 you don't have any number of scams doing this will account for.

 

Ok, you've proved my point. Not all scams are filed for a complaint. There's well over 10 a week. This week is average. There are countless amounts of scam complaints, you know that. Does it support my claim? Minimally, but, it shows that we cannot help everyone, and that's the bullcrap in this. If we can help one out of ten, that's great, but we cannot help the other nine. As well, I'm going to keep relating this to welfare. Players will become server dependent, and that's a problem in it of itself.

 

If this were added (which I still think it should not be) the people with priority (or who get it) should be based on the following factors:

1. Money making tools (If the user has a melonsword or eff7, they should have less priority because they can make the money back quicker.)
2. Amount involved in the scam (More money = more should be reimbursed so they don't have absolutely nothing)
3. Rank (New users should be encouraged to stay more so)
4. Activity (The people who play more and enjoy the server the most should be encouraged to stay)
5. Ban history (People who play the fairest should get an advantage)

Of course, people will still be upset and angry if other people are getting money rather than them. Even with legitimate criteria and the person being a clearly better choice, they will get jealous, angrier and may quit more. Someone's going to get offended, and it would be silly to assume everyone would be perfectly OK with people getting help rather than them, because unfortunately that's the type of server we're on.

 

I finally agree with you. You cannot please everyone, and in this kind of suggestion if not everyone is reimbursed, not everyone will be pleased, leading to them leaving. From there, if you cannot please everyone, there's no point in adding it.

 

The point of the matter is that you're still losing valuable players, and chances are, the system would be so corrupt, or biased that there would be no way for some people to get the support that they need. Could you give me the criteria needed to be picked for this please? Maybe that will change my mind.
