I saw a forum suggestion earlier today that really sparked my interest in more of a democracy among the ECC game. I feel that the user had put it wrong in a way that made it sound like the ideas and suggestions of the game should ONLY be chosen by the players and no one else. I for one agree and disagree so allow me to tweak the old suggestion into one that I do think will be a good suggestion for all.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I quote myself from the last suggestion, "The way I feel it should be done is the same way RS07 (runescape old school) is, there are a few surveys every few months with ideas and suggestions of the players, the players vote and this gives the developers what ideas the players want, and don't want. Although it is up to the company owner to decide if the suggestion goes through, they usually tweak the suggestion to make it work. Now obviously people want 2$ pumpkins but andrew doesn't want that so there for it won't go through. The staff team can compose a list of suggestions they feel can possibly happen and before it is accepted into the game we have a vote for the players (donators only would be nice as we have usually played more and have more commitment to the server then someone who has just played for fun. BTW I can't afford irl donations either, every single donation I own is from ECD, there is no excuses.) and see if the player base likes or disagrees the idea or suggestion. Please note this doesn't have to be price changes ! That can be done by the superiors such as kukelekuuk00 who make it challenging but fair to make money, although controversial topics such as mining world PvP and such can be and should be voted on by the players, this is our game after all, without the players Ecc would not exist."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an exact quote from non other then KHobbits "There was a comparison earlier which compared ECC to Runescape. I think this is a good comparison, the Runescape project was always on the lookout as to what the community thought, it had suggestion forums, bug forums, and often posted polls on what people thought was most important. I also know how often features were accepted and the result of the Runescape polls. Which is to say, they were used as an indicator of what the community wants, not a direct influence on what actually happened." This is exactly what I am trying to preach, we should have these polls every month or so with game changing suggestions or suggestions in general, they should be voted on by the community and should have a 60% positive vote for it to pass.

I like this but it needs to be very, very limited.

So, lets take the new enchantment method. Andrew has already decided they will be removed as it will ruin the economy (for exp).
So lets say we had a poll... 76% of people wanted to keep the enchantment tables from being usable. Your saying that this will influence andrew's decision? I'd think not.
At the end of the day, the final decision is andrew's, no matter what. And my advice is:
If you don't like it, tuff :)
I don't mean to sound mean or whatever, I'm just giving an example of what your getting at. -

andrew should post suggestions every month or so that allow us to be the ones to vote whether it gets added/removed/etc

You can give your opinion/vote on things, however nothing will be up to regular players. This will never be the case. Most players have no idea on how to run a server, how to keep players on a server, how to attract new players to a server or how to maintain a stable economy. Therefore, when a decision is to be made regarding the server, it will be up to Andrew to make this decision, not up to the inexperienced.

The big difference between runescape and ecocitycraft is that runescape is an independent game ( however if a day arises that ecc becomes an independent game, you can count me in on throwing my money at it). ECC is dependent on what changes mojang makes, but can alter those changes to its liking. Mojang can ruin every single economy server very easily by just adding a few things, this is why andrew removes minecraft features from ecc. The choice made on removing the new enchanting feature was a necessary step to make sure ecc survives 2014.
andrew already allows the public to help make decisions to change the server. The suggestion forums were made so that users can suggest changes to the server and its plugins. Whenever andrew can not decided on a change for ecc he usually makes a poll and ask for the publics opinion. This just recently happened with the buycraft poll, where the majority of the community voted to change over to buycraft.
TBH i dont know if i agree with your poll or disagree. It just seems that we already have what your suggesting. -
We already have this, in a way.
People suggest things, other people comment. Andrew weeds out the ones that are impractical/won't happen, and for the ones that he's willing to add he looks for player support. A few recent things have been added based on people posting on a suggestion, like the recent addition of new tools to extcommands++ repair loops.
