I understand what you are saying, however, I disagree. Changes do take time and if you have been reading the suggestion thread lately you would notice that suggestions are being evaluated and decided on.
Also, in contrast, I would challenge more players to either 1) research past suggestions and stop asking for the same things over and over again and/ or 2) spare a second to think about the suggestion before ever posting it.

Or maybe a large portal (like all the other portals in Spawn) that would be labeled "Start Here" or something that would take them to the Tutorial. There's a big difference for a new player between a small sign that you have to be within 5 blocks to read and a large portal label written in glowstone ;)

 

I don't really buy that something like this or adding a hoe in the starter kit and stuff like that take alot of time. I'm not talking about a massive change here, only small simple stuff like that. If simple changes can't be made or "take too much time" what about the more complex ideas? The server needs to change in time or it will become stale and boring. I know there is crazy lotto and boss fights in SG but those are just temporary events.
Suggestions may be evaluated and decided on but when was the last time something came out of it in-game? If there is a change its because there is a new MC patch other than that everything is still the same.

P.S. There are some people out there who post this in suggestions "-1 we don't need it" and this is not an argument. Either give some real feedback or don't bother exhibiting stupidity and/or laziness.

Here's a suggestion. Why don't we custom code chat or something to take you through some commands? Like upon joining, say "Welcome to ECC, this is the tutorial, and etc".

 

@emongolab when I first joined, if it hadn't been for you welcoming me and introducing me, I probably would have left. You kindly answered my slew of questions and directed me to the tutorial, which answered a lot of my other questions.

A lot of minecraft players are younger, and aren't necessarily apt at figuring things out on their own. At times I have seen builders asking questions and no one answers (I do as soon as I see the message, but often they are in /ch L and aren't aware of how to swap to /ch G).

Even something as simple as changing default channel to G rather than Local could make it so other members of the community can offer assistance.

+1, but i do think i spawned there and if i did not then i think is should be, also i accidentally skipped 3/4 of the tutorial bc i did not know where was more.

i am not sure why this isn't added yet still see tons of people at spawn asking tons of question would be a lot easier if they just spawn in the tutorial.
