My suggestion is change walking speed and/or/not flying speed to the potion effect. This would make it a bit better but may be hard to code or may not be possible. I will list the pros and cons.

Pros:
Mining while flying would be faster
No more lag with cjb

Cons:
May not be possible
Coding would be hell
Potion effect would be annoying

Leave feedback below and possible pros/cons. I think it would be good so it wouldn't lag with cjb and also we could mine normal speed while flying, which would be awesome.

No I want /speed 10 to when you use it not make it the essentials speed 10, but the potion effect equivalent of it so you can mine faster and much more, and even make the /speed (#) be able to go much higher

 

In theory, yes, and then some due to the command /effect (player) (effect id) (effect amount)
The effect amount goes up to 255 (effect amount is the number of it like Strength 2 or Speed 2 and yadayadayada) if my memory serves right, so if you compacted it into the /speed command you could possibly make the speed be equivalent to much, much more than the current /speed

 

Eh more than half the flyers already use cjb.
