Decompression:
New feature that will allow you to extract materials from crafted tools/blocks.In Game Name:
CrazySwagMaster1Suggestion:
The new feature for Commands++ (/compress) inspired this.Rational:
Basically the topic in hand is something the opposite of the new /compress or /compress all feature.
I think EcoCityCraft should include a(n) /expand, /decompress, or something similar to those names. The command would then act the exact opposite of /compress, however, the command would allow the user to get string from wool and ingots from iron blocks, etc. Including the items usually unobtainable from their block form (wool being an example). This feature would also give a nice platform to introduce a potential feature allowing the user to extract diamonds from unused tools, or the obsidian out of outdated enhancement tables.
Pros: Faster crafting/easy way to get back materials from accidental crafting.
Cons: string/wool prices, along with all the other blocks unable to be reverted, will need to be modified.

Like you said the cons of this I dont really think it would be good. Like feathers would be easy to get due to skelly spawners. get bones an get a crap load of feathers.. Like the idea though.

A have a couple issues with this, the first being how you're proposing to deal with overflow from decompressing? If you decompress an inventory of iron blocks, will most of it end up on the floor? Will it only fill space you have available? Will it just not work in this case? (note that due to massive lag issues, dropping them on the floor will not be a popular option for server performance purposes.)
Second, in what cases will this cause issues with existing economies? For instance you used string as an example, string atm is only obtainable via spiders and spider webs, and due to fishing being fairly popular at the moment there's not a lot, but a fair bit of demand for it. How will it affect that market for string? For other things? Will being able to decompress tools cause issues with diamond markets? I can't think of all the examples offhand but to me there'd have to be a lot of consideration regarding not only user-to-user economies, but prices of things to the server. Some crafted things have a lower value than their uncrafted counterparts.-

@Minecraftguy65, I'm not saying that all blocks should be able to be decompressed. Not only will that take forever to code and the support would be painful, but the whole economy would crash.
@Skylexia, your points basically expanded on my main con. I would imagine that the demand for the blocks/crafted items would go up, and skyrocket in some cases. Other material forms of things (iron ingots, string, etc.) would go down, allowing builders to buy materials they need to get started. Once the values change once they will not be needed to change again. The issue at hand is deciding whether or not to do it that one time; as this is an all-or-nothing event that will be taking place.
Your other point about where it would go; I would recommend doing a check before allowing you to decompress them in one of two ways, adding either an "f" option in the command to force it (meaning spill on the floor), or another option without the f whereas the command will only decompress what it has room for in your inventory. -
Well more of my issue is, should it be done? Can Andrew reasonably predict the changes necessary for things to be changed when it comes to value of the items in question? Is it really necessary to possibly upheave and redo entire segments of the economy to bring out 1 command?
Also again I'm not really a fan of the idea of having things drop on the floor due to massive lag issues regarding that many entities existing at once. It's also a major risk to people decompressing things, or having a powertool for it, etc.-

Well, my opinion on this is well, some items weren't made to be "uncrafted". I mean, its not that hard to put a stack of iron blocks in your inventory crafting thing and then shiftclick. The /compress command was supposed to "Compress" materials that are simply craftable into "Compressed" blocks, mainly because its a pain to craft the materials into blocks. This is just my opinion.

CrazySwagMaster1 Mother F****** SorceressBuilder ⛰️ Ex-EcoLeader ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeIt'd be simple to predict. A value for the pickaxe would simply change to that of three diamonds, etc. String would be worth I'd say a quarter and wool would be worth it's amount of string (just an example).
I think most of the values should change into those similar to the value of the materials put into the object anyways, this is just a practical reason to do it.
If you don't think it's a good idea to have items land on the floor then I would use the other option I mentioned where I said the following.
You don't have to have it spill on the floor, but it would be perfectly fine if you were in your house, putting them away already. -
