[Suggestion] Custom Names for /warp

That is the problem. You are putting the responsibility in the hand of the users. What if they don't have TP? Then they can't try out /warp <whatever>. They would need to go through all the pages of warps. With the amount of people younger kids on this server, we simply cannot just take their word that nobody has that town name, or warp name.

This would require Game Admins to check ALL this this as well. I simply think it is to complicated.

It was removed way back when for a reason.

 

They would also need to check whether or not the warp name is being used as a town. If so, then it couldn't happen.

 

It is just yet another tedious thing Game Admins would need to do. Obviously are going to keep coming up with different things to say. Whether it be "that isn't to hard" or "it only takes a second", it still takes more time.

I feel that the issue of future towns having that name is being avoided. I'd appreciate if that issue was addressed. It isn't fair to future town owners to restrict their options because past users wanted a custom warp. I don't see a point in it to be honest.

 

As of right now, Only Andrewkm can delete regions/rename or do anything like that. With the chances of a large number of apps that would come in, plus the confusion, it isn't extremely feasible.

 

Couldn't he assign a Staff rank for that, such as GA?

 

The process of renaming a region requires the region to be deleted and re-created with a new name. This of course deletes all the users and owners. It can be quite messy.

And others have already pointed out the other flaws with this suggestion.

 

You are now suggesting multiple different things. Custom warps, New plugins, changing town names....

 

If someone wants to blow a ton of money on a warp no one could ever remember let them, it's good for the economy.

 

In my opinion, town owners take priority. They pay more for a town (85k - 400k) than is charged for a warp. The situation of /warp shopping simply adds to my point of restrict warps to town names. Although with /warp shopping, it's fairly silly to advertise a warp name that you know isn't locked in - simply advertise your town warp, which can't be taken from you.

 

I read it. That doesn't change the fact that you are suggesting multiple things now. In order to implement this we need to add many other things.

 

Basically, this is what I'm saying, Andrew has stated multiple times seeing as we've had town renames before, that he doesn't like them and doesn't want to do them again. They took a ton of effort. They made it hard to prove if someone was illegally evicted, etc. The deletion of a region causes more problems than just the mayor having to remember who was in his town. I see no issues with our current system and a lot more with changing the system. As of right now I maintain my -1.

 

What if with a town renaming you have to give a notice, similar to a town eviction. All members must be tagged, so they know the change is being made.
