As fun as this might be, it won't happen. I can say that with 99.99% certainty. Not to mention, building a long rail system isn't that hard. If you don't have the iron for it, spend a few hours in the mining world. Chances are, while doing that you'll run into an underground mine shaft that has more than enough rails for most projects.

 

I'm saying that any decently thought out plan for building a transportation system shouldn't have an issue obtaining the rails necessary. The design you're proposing seems quite a bit unnecessary.

 

What about horses?

 

We don't need all that lag. The server simply couldn't handle it. Too many moving blocks and more importantly lighting updates.
It would be awesome though.

 

I'd also like to point out that 9000 rails is less than 2 double chests worth. Which is really not that bad.

 

Why would you be covering the entire road with tracks? You'd only need two lines, one going one way, another going the opposite way, for a total of only 3,000 which only takes 1,125 iron ingots which is pretty obtainable. This entire suggestion just seems like a really complex solution to a really petty issue.

the car plugin is very useful for the wild, as rails can get griefed. And in all cars are fun

 

-1 Lag, a hassle, probably a plugin that isn't open source and/or doesn't update enough. (Things like car plugins are never updated enough, lol.)

As well, it's not hard to set up a rail track, nor expensive. Many people can ride one track at the same time.

 

Another option, is instead of full blocking the road, half-slab it with ice underneath. Then if you want it to go faster, put a roof over it.

 

I must say I agree with the majority of those responding. A rail system wouldn't require any sort of plugin and its something you could make immediately. The supplies aren't exactly scarce.

No, if I'm right it's a plug-in that uses a minecart like a car, you can full out drive it around places, like a horse.

 

If its like a horse, why don't use a horse? This plug in can cause much lag, and when it has no real use other than "why not" I will say -1
