I think this would be great, but just like the Lottery... some money should be removed like a tax. This along with the lottery tax will reduce inflation. There should be a set amount that would be bet otherwise a 1k bet would win the same about as a 100k bet or something crazy like this... Hope this is helpful and I'm not trying to tear apart your idea, i just want to give you more ideas to strengthen your idea.

I think atleast this is way better way than just simple lotto, whenever you want to gamble your money, because atleast you can analyse who is going to win, by searching their records and history on how they are good at SG. Or another way of cheering to win other player, gives more things to talk between sg player and non sg players.. like "Hey I bid my money to you, So you gotta win!" something like that.. While watching match or fight, gambling your money to player, team, or fighter for win, is old traditional thing in human history. Like audience in Roman empire gambling to gladiators match, or even now, people gambling money in sports team or UFC combat sports....

I guess if it's too big change to test and apply for every sg matches, or hard to make participants on this, I guess it would be good idea if andrewkm tries this at random time(like crazy lotto) with announcing to people with red [Alert] messages and make it like "Crazy SG", so people can join more, with double prize for winner, and also give less cut prize from prize pool for 2nd and 3rd winner, and also allow all players to bet their money to certain players who is playing that sg game, including yourself.. And of course there should be tax too. I like this.

Oh and also... I hope non-sg players, or players who got killed from that match can re-join and watch rest of the game in real time until it finishes, if that "Crazy SG" is really happening, so people can cheer.. Like in form of flying with vanished conditions, so audiences can look what's going on, but actual survivor players can't see those audiences.. But I guess this is going to be lot of works for developers to make all this complicated things to happen..

 

I really like this and it's a very fun and innovative way to pull EcoDollars out of the economy.
Although I understand what you're saying I'm not sure how it could be implemented into the game. If possible I'd love to see it but it sounds pretty complex. What if multiple people bet on the same person? Is there a tax?

Would the players gambling have to be the Sg players or anyone? If not, activating the spectate command would be nice.

 

Last I heard spectating was disabled due to

1. Being very buggy overall.
2. One specific bug that allows vanished spectators to get in the middle of a fight and interfere with the fight. (ie: stand in front of someone shooting a bow to block the shot for their friend)

 

Spectating won't ever happen as discussed in other suggestion threads

About the question "What if multiple people bets on one player?".. I guess they only lose money from tax, just like lotto when someone buys 1 lotto ticket and nobody participates on that pot, 1 player wins $850 with spending 1k, losing 15% from tax..
this isn't somekinda blackjack(casino's money vs player's money), like server gives player money when they win their gamble.. It's kinda like poker(players' money vs players' money), but also game host takes the certain amount tax % from pot.. just like lotto.. So I guess this won't be possible to be used by player's shady exploit plan to make fast bucks coming out from server..

 

This is what I see wrong with it.

1)Say someone goes into an sg who is well know for kitting, and no one else in that game uses a kit. Everyone will most likely bid on the same person, and in turn, will cause a crap storm in terms of paying people out.

2)I as well, see the exploit(maybe not exploit, but can't think of another word) where people could get paid off to kill themselves, or in turn, hide until the end to help boost their friend.

3)Spectate command: Never really used it, or seen it used, so I don't have much input on this. But I do see what you're all saying.

 

I have to agree with dork in this, while this would be very interesting and fun to see introduced into ECC there are just way too many problems. The biggest problem being how easy it would be to exploit this with paying off the user to "throw" the game. This doesn't however even address the fact that without any way to spectate (which from previous suggestions seems like it's not going to happen) this wouldn't be as interesting/fun. Also, imagine the amount of PMs or mail a user would receive if they lose the game when so many people have bet on them.

And just my own opinion here, but as someone who plays sg a lot, I personally wouldn't want to have X amount of people PMing me while in game concerned about their bets

 

This has come up on teamspeak while I was there, and I'll put the same here.

This won't work in a system where skills can be bought. People will soon learn to only bet on the same people, and then because nobody is making money, nobody will bet at all.

Also from what I've heard from Kuke, the system is terribly written already, I'd imagine haveing to code this in would be an extreme pain for those having to code it.
