Denied [Suggestion] Another SG Cup

It's about winning for enough people to make it not enjoyable. Last sg event flashback shall we?

2 people banned before it even started
2 banned for hacking
Endless accusations and flame wars

But enjoyed right? People don't become friends over this.

 

Now I understand the point you make, but now wouldn't that apply to a lot of other competitions the server has? Look at mine runs where people work together to kill other users and get ores/loot, crazy lottos where people team to dominate the majority of tickets to win and split profits, and even build competitions where people can easily add people to their plots to get much more work done than a solo player. In anything with a major prize people will team and so what makes SG any different in this case? Now you could argue, and it's quite true, that SG is a very different event in the aspect that it is a pvp based one, but as shown above, people team in everything really.

 

That tournament is what brought me back into ECC, it's how I met some of my closest friends on the server now. Also as I mentioned earlier, we as staff will need to crack down on the accusations and flame wars. Hacking wise may I mention that you said that everybody records during a PvP tournament so catching hackers really wouldn't be that much of a problem would it? I personally have not seen somebody who seems suspicious in the past few months but of course this may change. But to put it in perspective 4 people out of the, making an estimate, 100 people who participated really is not bad.

 

Yes and no.
Ultimately 1 person wins a crazy lotto, and 1 good builder can still outbuild 5 bad ones. A team makes the most immediate effect in a PvP competition like this. A competition like this also requires more setup than the other things you've listed, and I'm not a fan of wasting that time just to get a predictable outcome which most players will be unhappy with anyway.

Ultimately you're right in that the outcome is much more predictable that other competitions. What I really want is SG to just come alive again. Its something that I never played when it first came out and I came to appreciate it the past few months. All in all I just want something that can come and revive sg population so it can be more fun again. Weather it be the boosters, a tournament, or even increased SG kill amounts, I just want something to bring back SG so it can be enjoyable again.

 

Oh, and a GameAdmin was demoted. That's pretty severe if you ask me.

Congrats? We will go with your math and statistics, 2 out of 150 people will become friends. That's not bad. So to make that happen, we should allow everyone else to hate on each other, cause friendship. If 4 out of 100 people hack, it still ruins the WHOLE event. One hacker screws it up. Its not quantity that matters here.

If something is dying then why not try and put the effort in to fix it? I don't understand why you'd make the whole argument against the tournament when you would rather let it die.

 

I'm all for fixing sg and doing anything to fix it but I don't think this tourney would fix it. I think the boosters might help fix sg but IMO this won't.

 

I completely understand where you come from. I really just want SG to become active again.

 

Because there are so many better minigames that we have a new chance with. Many things have ruined sg for many people. We need to move on to new minigames that have no kits and things. SG is no longer needed.

 

But those mini games aren't coming in the foreseeable future atm with all this EULA transition/1.9 updated and such. Wouldn't it be better to make do with what we have now and try and fix those problems rather than sweeping it under the rug when we release new mini games? We are already fixing SG by offering no kit boosters as a way to fund the server, so SG is still quite needed as a way to support the server financially.

 

With all the EULA/1.9, what makes you think they have time for an sg cup? You aren't seeing all perspectives here. When all the updating is done, and they have time for a cup, they will be doing new minigames! So yes, it is time to let sg die and have new boosters for the new minigames

We are no where close to the new mini games for all I know nor have we received a hub update in months now. Also I'm sure the SAs are the ones who would be organizing the tournaments seeing that Nicit recently made a thread for events which shouldn't take time away from Jamie's hub development. The mini games are still a long term plan on the server and I can't possibly see them coming by this summer which is why we should have something to fill this dead period with no events. Also, why would we focus on boosters for games that we don't even have in place yet? Even creating boosters requires the communities input and the actual minigames to be released so we know how they work and we can give input on what we would want.
