I love this suggestion and was thinking about this the other night

Only problem I see is that they have to be added manually, and the reason town chats were taken away was because they also had to be added manually as well, it wasn't the only reason but that was the big reason.

Only difference I see with this is that Game Admins might be able to add channels and permissions on this, so it would be down to just SA's

Another possibility is to create a channel under which any anyone could create a temporary channel. Temporary channels are deleted when everyone leaves the channel. The creator of the channel could set the channel password and channel name. Maybe instead of buying a channel you could buy permission to create temporary channels? This would mean no or less work for GameAdmins and users would still be able to create private channels.

Offer them two options:
1.) Pay in real life money
2.) Pay x amount of ECD monthly.

As much as I'd love this, this isn't something that's scalable. It still has to be done manually. So unless there is some way to automatically create and remove the channels I'd have to say no to this.

 

I would agree but one thing you are leaving out. Thats the amount it will cost to purchase one. Staff arent going to be doing these everyday as its going to cost money. Besides maybe the first week. Also it is a great way to take money out if the economy

Only way to avoid excessive amounts of channels would be to make them a high cost for multiple months. For example, 300k for 3 months. Doing rent means someone has to take money from your account every month, which is an absurd amount of time - especially if channels are cheap like 50k. The idea should be that one person gets a channel for a group of friends... not everyone in the group of friends getting a channel. Make it a higher cost, one-time purchase, for a longer period of time. Far less work for Staff AND the group of friends can compile money for "their" channel.
