This has been suggested numerous times before. I agree that it should be added, but from what I hear, staff has absolutely no motivation to implement it.

 

The problem:

It would require the plugin to check if you were afk or not. This would be done every second, or about, to see what your status is.

Perspective:

During peak, there are around 200 players online at a time. Checking 200+ players every second weather they are afk or now will, well, cause a ton of lag.

 

No, I don't think server needs check whether players' AFK mode is on or not like constantly looping way..
What this suggestion is saying, those message "Your AFK mode is on, right now." or similar type, only appears when you are trying to pm someone. It's not like that message is going to be alerted constantly every 3 minutes, like vote reminder or something. So server will just check whether this player's afk mode is on or not, only in a moment when player pms to other player.

And by the way, I am +1 all the way. I even posted this same suggestion before, below link.

And I was thinking of necroing that suggestion, or just simply re-post another same suggestion again.. Anyway I am glad that many many players are constantly posting this numerous times. It will be helpful to make this happen.

We do need this message appearing when we are pming someone, while afk mode is on!

 

I'd love to see this, but it has been suggested many times in the past.. Maybe there will be a change of mind, but I still don't see this being added.
