As the title says, I'd like it if you were able to buy animal spawners from the netherstar shop, and be able to place them anywhere.
They would cost anywhere from 500-1000 nstars, so they would be a premium, rather than a means of profit.
They could be only placed by moderators, or it could be a Town Feature in which you apply for.
Yes, I do realise that with animal spawners, comes lag, but I believe the steep price at which you get them would turn away most people, therefore keeping the amount of lag minimal.

    Why animal spawners? Why not?
Animal spawners are cool, I like minecraft animals, it's as simple as that.
They bring little to no functionality, rather than being aesthetically pleasing and somewhat comforting in the "hardcore economy" of ECC.
This could also act as another money sink for the server.

1000 netherstars isn't that expensive -- look at how many people have star tools, or multiple star tools.

That would mean a lot of mob spawners, meaning a lot of mobs, meaning a lot of lag.

Yes, but there are only a handful of people willing to drop 1k nstars on animal spawners.
People buy eff7s and melon swords and star tools in general to help to make money or clear land or something of that sort, not to simply be able to see animals again.
It's a premium, as I've said before, for the stupidly rich or the stupidly dedicated.

You would be surprised, I would bet that there are a lot of players who would be willing to drop that much for an unlimited supply of steak, porkchops, feathers, chickens, wool, and (if hostile mobs are allowed too) gunpowder, as well as exp.

Obviously with the introduction of this arrows and food and things like that will go down in value.
For the food part though, with the introduction of feed/feed+ and with farming being much more easier and more available, one would assume that food wouldn't be part of ones interest.
Wool, well, yes. Many players use liberal amounts of wool and would appreciate it if it were somewhat cheaper.
I don't plan for hostile mob enabling, I was thinking more around cows, sheep, chickens, and things like that.
EXP for mobs could be disabled if it isn't already disabled in the main world.

I see the point you're trying to get across, I'm not sure as to how to turn this into a rich mans toy instead of a money making tool, except for the high price.

Yeah. There really isn't. Even with feed+, feed has been out a while, but, there will always be a market for food. Rich players can just sell it even if they don't need it themselves.

If your goal is to just see mobs spawning in the main world, you could try to see if andrew could re-enable the mob spawning worldgaurd flag at a high (100k+) price, though I know this has been removed previously probably for lag reasons.

Things like wool would become nothing... Wool is a MAJOR money dump for the server. If anything, more money dumps are being added because too much money is being put into the economy. Taking out on of the bigger money dumps by adding sheep spawners wouldn't be a good idea.

As well, spawners would have to be placed in the Mining world. MW allows grief. People will grief the spawners, there will be rage, tons of upset users, and general chaos. And if you have never seen a good chicken pit, then you have no idea how many eggs people can make and then hatch to cause server crashes on purpose...

Animal breeding and spawning was disabled in the Aether a long time ago due to the lag; allowing spawners, even if they were an insane price like 5k NStars, would still cause lag (with breeding disabled, too). If not lag, extremely angry users who get stalked in MW.

Meats like pork and beef would also lose any market they currently have (which apparently exists). Those little markets that require effort - being on when the MW resets - can make a difference.

The most major issue is lag. It wouldn't be long until spawner purchasing was taken out, butchers happened more often (which itself may cause lag, upset users, cause other issues, etc), markets crash and/or money dumps that are needed disappear, etc.

Although I adore animals and I'm still upset that they are practically nonexistent on ECC, adding spawners just sounds like a mess. -1

You know, when the star store was first released and I saw the spawners there. I had a brilliant idea. I would buy the spawner and then buy aether access. I would go and make a house in the aether with the spawner and be free of grief/problems while getting to infinitely spawn w/e. Now, I realize that was naivety on my part speaking. There is no way to stress the number of markets this would effect. Mobs = meat, exp, wool, leather, etc. Now of course, you can decide the meat is worthless, but, the wool, leather, and exp isn't. There IS a market for leather for books. There IS a giant market for wool. Wool takes so much money out of the economy. Out of my bank account and many. Finally is exp. I'm sorry but, I don't want another thing to come along and threaten to decimate the exp market.

    So, I'm with Moofink, -1.

I like this but it should cost more, for lag purposes. Like 2000 nstars (or more) so they would be rare, not causing much lag.
