For those of you who don't know, and LLC is a limited liability corporation. In real life this means that if the company fails, the individual owners are safe. What if in ECC we had this?
I think this would be good for a couple of things.
- If 2 or more people are joint in a business, it would be good to have a business account sort of thing. Certain members could be added to be able to use the account funds and in a forum contract could agree to not use it for personal matters.
- If a person who loans out money wants the money for that to be seperate from the money they use, they could do that.
- Or basically anything that involves using money for a specific purpose, like a business, budgeting (by dividing money for one thing to the mock account) or really anything.
How to make this happen?
I have absolutely no idea. This thread is really just to get the idea out there. I would love to hear what people have to say about it. Any feedback is welcome.

I know this might not be like an LLC sort of thing, but I just think hat having a seperate account to have money for a specific reason would be great.

No, no, and no. Scamming is bad enough as it is. Loansharking is bad enough as it is, the last thing on earth ecc needs is a new way for people to try to shift personal responsibility off of themselves for crummy or negligent actions. These are parts of the real world I do not want reflected on ecc. Without this circus we already managed to have our own lil Bernie Madoff.
Kittens, though, are cool by me.-

I guess I understand. I think it would be great if people were just nice and didn't abuse it.

Problems. Lots of problems. Too many problems.
Alrighty, so first of all, feasibility: how exactly do we make this LLC into it's own separate entity? How do we create an entirely different bank account for this new LLC and have that bank account be able to make money transfers? And how do we register certain assets that can only be owned by players to the LLC (Town, tools, ect.)
Now, let's pretend feasibility of this is off the table. My second concern is fraudulent activity, like @oootopia's pointed out. Naturally, the owners of the LLC have limited liability when it comes to being liable for the debts and liabilities of the said company. On ECC, this essentially gives these users a free-pass when it comes to scamming. Say I opened LLC A and borrowed $1,000,000 and never paid that money back - I wouldn't be liable for those overdue debts, as well, it's a LLC. This literally opens the doors to abuse by player's with ill-intentions.
I don't see a need for such a complex type of corporation on ECC anyways or how creating a new set of rules relating to corporate law will benefit ECC. My personal view is that these so-called "companies" on ECC should never be an actual entity, but instead a brand name a group of players go off of. There's simply far too many issues with incorporating a company on ECC.
Let's remember that this is a MC server. Even if we're trying to simulate an economy, at the end of the day, absolute realism like this isn't really feasible.-

LLC's in IRL have a purpose. They provide limited responsibility to bushiness owners. Thus if something goes wrong and the business goes bankrupt or gets sued the owner won't go bankrupt. Instead the company will go bankrupt. In addition to a form of protection from uncontrollable events and arbitrary lawsuits. This, in theory, promotes business because people won't be as afraid to create their own business.
On ECC an LLC has no purpose. None whatsoever. You don't have the costs and responsibilities and IRL company has. You don't have to worry about John stubbing his toe in your store and suing you for all you're worth. And it's super easy to start a business with no risk. Click forums hit post and add a catchy slogan if you so desire.
All this would do is absolve people of responsibly for their own actions for no reason. It would also be abused by scammers.

This just isn't practical. All I can see is this opening the door to scamming and other fraud. If you'd like to start a business you can do so at the full liability.
