i farm sugar cane also, and i find it to be very much more profitable in 10 minutes i made around 1k (no potions but i was running), and i made about 300 farming melons (this is a normal diamond sword) so i think it's fair at the momebt

 

I can fly on speed 4 and collect all the reed. I make about $100 per row and $1,000 per floor. It is a 16 x 176 x Currently, I don't see a $0.05 increase doing much.

 

If you have fly, they make more than 10K per hour.

 

When I had a big reedfarm I made 22k an hour, I then got the price lowered, afterwards I made 17k an hour.

I did a report on all farming prices monday the 7th of january, I had reedfarming as MAX: 18k and AVERAGE: 15.4k

How did that change when the price for Sugar Cane didn't change?

 

The price is fine if you have a big farm. Sugar cane grows up to three and you break the top two at 30 cents each. That means that 2 sugar cane=1 pumpkin. Better yet you dont even need any tools since reed instantly breaks while in pumpkin farming you need some good tools. If anything sugar cane needs a decrease in price.

 

I could fill an inventory in 2 minutes and 17 seconds, I've extensively tested farming before andrew last changed the prices.
The problem simply is that your farm/technique is not good.

 

Well fly users make more money, thats just how it works.

 

You can at least 14k an hour without fly or speedpotions, I've tested that, too.
As for fly, the best speed is speed 2 and a good technique, you could do the same with speedpotions.

 

I don't see why they should make the same amount per hour. To farm pumpkins you need an Eff5 Diamond Axe and constant E-Repairs, while for sugarcane you just need your bare fists.

 

That was just my opinion, because it should be fair to give more to the people that HAVE to spend more.
If this changes people will simply stop farming pumpkins.

If andrew decides to change something, it isn't because a lot of people start bugging him to do so, but because he has a good reason. Many suggestions have been posted with big support from the community, and however ended up being rejected by him, not because he wants to spoil the fun, but because he doesn't see the point in implementing such, obviously having good reasons to not do so.

Anyways, right now Pumpkins and Sugarcane have a similar value because of the fact Reeds usually grow 2 blocks more before being harvested. So with each broken, you don't get 1, but 2 sugarcane.

1 Pumpkin = 0.60
2 Sugarcane = 0.30 + 0.30 = 0.60

Thus, Raising the price by 0.05 would turn into a 0.10, making sugarcane technically EVEN BETTER than Pumpkins, which simply must not happen because of how easy it is to set up a farm, and harvest them.

If anything, they need a slight drop.

 

The only difference is that reed has to grow two blocks, so it takes longer for it to fully grow.

 

Keep it the same. Even without fly you make about the same you would make if you harvested pumpkins without fly... If anything, pumpkins should rise...but that is for a different thread.
