I would tend to agree that case by case judgments are more flexible (EDIT: and have the potential to be more fair) than mandatory sentencing rules. I'm glad that ECC has mods and staff that are able to take time to hash that stuff out.
If you donated a couple hundred dollars it does not give you the right to break rules and have no consequences. The rules are there for a reason and the money donated should not be seen as a few "get out of trouble" passes! If you donate and then abuse the rules then you're STILL BREAKING THE RULES! It would be your own fault if you got banned because you CHOSE to break the rules. It's a choice, not an accident. I don't condemn anyone for not being a donator. I'm lucky in that I can afford to do it. I know there are plenty of people that do not have money to donate. It makes no difference to me if someone is a donator or not. Choosing to break rules shows who you are. If you are making choices that hurt the server, then being a donator is irrelevant to me. Don't even get me started on people that are repeat offenders!
But the donators do et punished, just not quite as severely, because the serer needs donations, and the person supplies some of that. There is no evidence that they bypass banning for donating, their money is simply needed to help out. And, they have spent money, they should get it off slightly easier. And I am sure the mods do consider appealing bans, they jist dont show it to us.
I agree with this. Yes, you donated, but it's called donating for a reason. It's not called "Paying so you can slide by easier" now is it? I feel that being a donator shouldn't be a factor in deciding punishments/bans.
Well you shouldn't be upset, you broke the rules after all. It's not like the rules are incredibly complex and If you take a wrong step and you are banned. "Oh No I accidently installed the x-ray mod and used it for hours to cheat the economy." That doesn't happen. If you don't want to be banned for weeks on end then don't break the rules. They aren't hard to follow. Note: if anyone has a medical issue which forces them to x-ray I appologise to you.
Okay I just went through and read all of these comments, and me, as a donator, will provide my side of this whole thing. You said Xray makes a monopoly? Hardly. I was banned for x-raying back when I started this server. First off, yes it makes a good amount of money, but hardly enough to make a monopoly. When I was x-raying and fastbreaking with nodus, I made about 30k and hour. That is a good chunk of money, but still not enough to make a monopoly. When I did this, I was banned shortly after starting it. After that ban for x-raying, I never even thought about x-raying again. I had a 7 day temp ban, and I took it very seriously. Personally, I would of been willing to give my money from x-raying back. To the point of saying that all donators should be cracked down on, is wrong. Maybe everybody could be cracked down upon with the rules, as I see lots of people getting away with things they shouldn't. But I do say, it should be cracked down harder for breaking rules to the people who are continuous offenders. I see some higher up people in this server getting banned like once a week, and getting back on a day after their ban every time. Just give that person a nice long ban and show them that the rules are there to help us out, not meant to be broken. Hell, I've seen some of these continuous offenders say in global "Guys the rules are meant to be broken," after being warned by mods to stop. So all in all, I think our current system should stay in place for first time offenders, and the more they break the rules, yes even the little rules, they should be punished more severely. I see players harassing others, and myself, constantly. They have been banned for it, but they just get back on within a day and don't care about it and continue on with what they were doing. I confronted a mod myself about a player that was constantly harassing people and myself, and when I confronted the mod about it, they said that they have been banned for it previously and were just warned now, and that I should just "/ignore them and suck it up." There are too many players on here that think they can get away with anything. After being banned for it so many times, the mods don't even care to ban them and just warn them over and over. Action has to be taken on these members. I've been fed up with the constant harassment that I get from players when I get on with no action taken, and that is the reason I haven't been on much. I just can't stand it. Why should these players be able to do everything that they are doing and make so many other players times miserable? Anyways that was hard to say without naming names, but I'm sorry if that was too much of a rant. Action really needs to be taken though on certain players. With the exception of these several players, most players stop offending after their first offence.
