I understand what a free market is, and I understand how several forms of economics work. I don't blame anyone for the loss of my spawner. I understand the status quo on ECC. But, I think it is silly not to ask for there not to be hard feelings. You can't ask someone to believe that a directed attack on their efforts isn't personal, even though you may not be singling them out. That is how all atrocities begin. Assailants tell themselves that they are not attacking individuals - just fulfilling a task. I could cite many historical events, not only of war, rights, but also in modern economics. I think you can contemplate that on your own. I won't go into detail on this, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I would like to indicate a personal experience. I was with a news crew in the middle east as the Arab Spring started. The stories from innocent civilians were heart wrenching, and disturbing. Ourselves, the news crew, we came very close to not making it out in one piece. Call it what you want; business, war, a way of life... It's all been said before, in many tongues. The intrinsic nature behind those words is the same. Now obviously this isn't a real life matter, and there is no permanent damage, we're in a game. And in a way that is good! We can see the effects of what we do in a non physically hazardous environment. But, we must remember, behind screennames and model skins, on the other side of the internet, is another person, typing away at a keyboard and screen, just like we are. They are people, they have feelings, and they will feel something, I guarantee you that. Whether you're under the sun's warm rays , strolling through a frosty evening, or cloudy pixels, The definition of destruction and mayhem doesn't change. It is personal. The attack is your choice. The animosity you will foster, is your choice. As I said, this could be interesting. I will definitely like to see how this plays out.
I'm on hiatus from spawner hunting, because I'm busy with other projects and no longer feel like spending the time on it. Also, the loss of /disguise makes it much harder for me to hunt by stealth, since I don't have /vanish.
It is only personal if you make it personal. We are not going to your house and stealing your protected things. There is a reason why mobs are disabled in the regular world where things are protected and mobs are ONLY allowed in the world where things cannot be protected. That is a conscious choice that was made. There is an economy server. If you want to make it about war and death politics, its a stretch. I don't want to take away from your bravery and service to the world. I just want to state that drawing that comparison is a big stretch. I respect you and your opinion even if we disagree. If the set up spawner is worth that much to you that it pains you to this degree, than .... i don't know what to say. I have no alternative to offer. I will say that if there is a way I can make it up to you I wish I could. It's not going to change my resolute mission to seek and destroy spawners in an attempt to fix the XP market. Short of the power of AKM, that is all we can do.
OnSceneReporter first off thank you for taking the time to put together a well thought out and structured argument. Please don't get discouraged by the trolls/flames/noobs. I read this thread and I see people making the arguments for and against restoring the exp price by killing spawners. This is not a new thread or original. Not even being on this server for one year, I have seen this issue come up several time, in different forms. Mostly coming up after ECC did something to nerf/change how exp could be made/earned. I laugh when I see people say or use the logic to justify their actions, " I'm trying to restore the server price of exp"or "It is does not directly break a rule on the server." Bring the server price of exp back to what I ask? $1,000 a set average pre eff 7 release, $1200 a set average a couple of months before that. Before the "smelting exp nerf" sets went for $1200-$1500, depending on weekday or weekend and total of number of sets in the deal. And before the minecraft update when smelting and mining was added to give exp and a set of exp was lowered from lvl 50 to lvl 30. The exp set price was even higher but that was before my time on ECC, so I don't have those prices recorded. Also in the last year, LWC was disabled from Mining world, and the time between resets has been reduced. Example when I first started on ECC you could lock your chests in the mining world and the mining world was reset once ever 6 weeks. When this post was made - LWC disable, the mining world gets reset ever 2 weeks average. Another factor on the price of exp people don't talk about much is the number of people with ext command plus, and doing e-repairs. It does not directly effect the price but it still have an effect on the economy. Repairs affect the life span of that exp. As in; making a set of exp a year ago, turning it into a tool/weapon/armor, and still using said tool/weapon today in the world today. Meaning exp farmed/stored/sold/saved even as tools/weapons/armor/books needs to considered or added to the equation. Example - Player A makes/buys an eff 5 tool. Uses said tool, never breaks the tool, always repairs or buys a repair. Over the period of a year, he/she might repair that tool dozens/hundreds of time but as long as he/she does not break it. He/she is not consuming more exp to make a new tool/armor. Exp is being 'frozen' or saved in these tools that people only make once or twice in their life on ECC. And more importantly he/she is not spending more or new exp replacing said tool. In conclusion, with a mine world reset every 2 weeks, hundreds of spawners will be created and destroyed with no single player to be at fault. And players hunting and killing spawners historically will have little to no effect directly on exp prices. The price of exp has slowly dropped over the last year even with attempts by server admins and groups of players trying to stop/alter the prices changes. So what will the future hold? Not sure but I know I will be there to see what happens. Safe hunting all and don't forget to stock pile while you can, this is an economy server buy it while it is cheap.
