Agreed. Rating something like a complaint / ban appeal (/ staff application) is a form of bullying. It is like writing something very brief about someone in a HS bathroom stall, putting a note on someone's back, quietly laughing as they walk past every day, etc.

If you find something personally funny and it would be an inappropriate place to rate it funny, keep it to yourself. Kind of follows the phrase, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

 

This is something that bothers me also, especially on some staff applications and 100% valid complaints.

The rating "funny" needs to be removed. (It KILLED me not to rate this funny although I would have just changed it right after haha)

I mean on the positive side, if someone were to really post something funny, you could always just 'like' it... just like on facebook lol. Where as trolls will use it to their advantage. Removing it altogether would be much better imo.

 

Yes, maybe staff apps too, though there are comments on staff apps sometimes that are a friendly non-troll joke.

 

I have a feeling you cannot remove a simple feature from specific areas (at least not on every other forum shell I've had ACP access to). It may have to be removed all together, or every rating removed. In the case of the latter, the only thing that could be done is making rule.

 

Edit: Seconds before I posted this, AndrewKM removed the funny rating.

 

I've never seen it happen before (probably because I don't pay attention to anything) but it did seem pretty disrespectful. It really helps sort out between the mature ECC vets and the younger, obnoxious trolls

 

Another thing thats bothered me is when people post +1 -1 etc. these people do nothing to support the thread, no valid points are given for either side and this doesnt help when im looking at people ideas, they say -1 and im just stuck there saying to myself... well why didnt they like the idea? Definately see this alot in the staff apps, many people say +1 just because they like the person, but why in your eyes would they be a good moderator..

I dont know what to do about this but it just bothers me to no end that people are just trying to get their post count higher, or to joke around when the topic is something pretty serious.

This is a pet peeve of mine and drive me nuts. As moofink said, trolls will be trolls but in time, it will all catch up to them. Trolling is against the rules. Though, there was one complaint about stolen torches that I think most people have seen and it was great and funny. In that case, it was "Okay" in my book.
