It took me three days to become resident. If I know enough about the server and it's working you can get resident and a plot within 2-3 hours of joining.
So I think an increase would be a good thing. -
Edit: I say 30k. Emeralds is found in mining world only and is sold for high price this is why I say 30k

Keep in mind that the economy is going to shrink by at least 20% as all crops (the main source of dollar generation) have been cut by 25% across the board (excepting melons, that is). And those price drops hit builders the hardest, as they are using the least efficient farms. While 15k isn't much in today's economy, it will be worth more as we all start to feel the hit of less farming income. With that in mind, 25-30k seems much too drastic.

I think that both resident and mayor should be raised. Resident because of the amount of features plus how easily it is for builders to become residents, and mayors because of excessive towns. Unless, of course, a swipe of inactive mayors' towns is incorporated. If that occurs, I think president and additional town prices should also go down.

Resident 20-25k
Reason : bounties and villagers are available also they get to reach mayor rank and make trade signs and shops -
I agree with d0rk it should be 30k. With such a great difference from resident to mayor it should be way higher. 30k is fair because it will get new builders the chance to experience the server unlike now when I got resident in 6 days. Thanks

Raise Resident prices!
Say all the res+....
lol.
Before I agree I want a builder to say that.
I think the price is fine where its at, but everyone who wants it raised has valid points. Also, town prices should not be raised! They are incredibly expensive as it is, and the server will become pointless for those who (like me) play only an hour a day. I think limited computer time is the reason why resident prices are so "low". But that's just my opinion... -

The problem with saying that there's a lot of good stuff for getting resident is that the point is you really haven't started the playing on the server until you have resident. Jobs aren't very common and aren't very well paying. Farming isn't a smart choice because you don't make much from it unless you have a large farm and special tools, so you won't be able to make your own because the wild is griefable. The wild has been mined quite a lot and selling your stuff is a little more difficult without trade sign abilities and selling to the server is inefficient, as it's meant to be for the most part. So what is a builder to do to start making money? Purchasing Perms to a large farm is a good idea, but how do you make the money to do that in the first place?
I remember when I was going for resident, because it wasn't long ago, and it was a daunting process. Granted, I got it in a couple days, but those were days of constant playing, constant mining. Really, the difference between builder and resident is kind of a pseudo-whitelist trial. For the most part, builders are not trusted, and for good reason. That step onto resident shows what time and effort you've put into the server, give or take some luck. So the question is, how difficult should this trial be? I don't think most players would be willing to put in the straight drudgery that I was, or the hours per day I like to. I can understand higher ranks being more elite, but I think resident should be weighted for an average player.
Honestly, I don't know what that weighted price would be exactly. 15k was a lot of work as a builder for me, so I can only assume it would be a lot of work for others as well, and that the average player would spend more days on it than I did. I think 15k works fairly well. I guess 5k more wouldn't be too bad, so 20k might not be too much, but I think anything higher than that might be a little extreme.-
Agree x 1 - List

I think that it should be 20k because it shows how much time and energy people have donated to the server, so we can trust them more. Residents are still not really trusted that more than builders.

I agree with 15k as being a good price for the threshold. It is the first test. If a builder can earn $15 000 in one day then that person is either lucky or a powerhouse.... or a very good beggar.
As a builder you are hit with other costs, finding your first tools, furnishing your first house and then hiding it or buying it. In order to get your first set of enchanted tools and gear you potentially have to fork out the value of your residency, not mentioning buy a town or access to a decent farm.
The 15k threshold is less about the money and more that the player has moved into ecc and learnt enough to move from absolutely nothing to something plus money to show for their efforts to integrate. -

Trevalynfar, that would be an excellent point, if new players did more playing and less begging.

True that, but then even if it was 20k they would still beg for the extra 5k

Although, even starting from nothing and using regular tools you could make 15k in 3 hours, it takes time for people to understand what to do on the server, so I think resident is fine.
