Server Build Competition: New Spawn!

There was nothing wrong with this situation at all. It should be expected as players are always on at different hours and different days. There is also many methods of communications for players and even pm's where discussions take place at times. I believe the point being made is that it would be great if at least one of the parties add the solutions to this thread in order to improve communication and reduce errors.

 

I understand what jmichael was putting across. Yes I agree it is a good idea for people to post what they find out or know onto the thread but it is also the competitors responsibility to find out what they need to know to build the spawn to the best suitability for the server. Although, I for one put my knowledge across on the questions that @jmichael214 and @Expipiplusone had asked and personally I would continue to offer my advice and help and others may do the same however, It is not really obligated for competitors to help other competitors in a competition so it cannot be expected.

Overview:

- The entire spawn is designed to match both efficiency with design while at the same time keeping the players within a short distance of any other critical part of spawn. Each cardinal direction has 3 portals accompanied with it, one on each side as you approach it, along with a major portal which is located at the center up a small staircase.

- At the major portals there are two staircases which go perpendicular to the portal and bring you up to two server shops. There are also entry points at the top tier of the spawn. Obviously, these aren't the only ways to reach the server shops. I have implemented a 'shops' space which would then include a warp sign to the individual shops. This way there can be one master /warp shops, which you could then take to the specific shop.

- Another set of staircases will bring you up to the next level, which is occupied with parks for the locals to enjoy. Players can enjoy their time at the heart of ECC, staff can listen to the beautiful sound of birds next to the fountain while watching the peaceful chat of global swift through.

- To leave the spawn, there are paths below each main portal which will take you from the heart to the exterior of spawn. Once at the exterior, there is a path which takes you around the entirety of spawn. This is designed so folk can have access to the aesthetically pleasing parks and nature created around the perimeter of the spawn. It is well known that there would then be another path which preexists for the spawn statues that go around spawn.

- The tutorial is conveniently located right underneath the main centerpiece, in which paths take people both up from, and down to, the tutorial area. This would allow the new players who start here to be able to pop right up after their time acquainting themselves with our server. Because I don't know exactly how much will be added/edited into this tutorial, I kept the design of it pretty vague. If this design in chosen of course I would work with you guys to decide what exactly you would want where ect.

- Here are some more pictures of the center, showing the following portals/areas present: Hub, Market, Legacy/Rising, End, Nether, Mining, Shops, and SG. SG, since it is our only mini-game, I have made an entire corner, which is why there are two SG signs. One side is the actual SG gameboard, the other is our top 5 player leaderboard. This way it brings more attention to new players. There are also the 3 empty portals as requested.

I've posted this early on purpose, because I'm so inept with technology. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could confirm for me that you were able to access the file, so I have time for a redo if I f***ed it up.

Also, my build doesn't have a "center block" because it fills the entire space allotted, which doesn't have two odd-numbered sides. Therefore, the "center block" of this build for purposes of worldedit is as follows: determine the "center point" of the existing spawn, defined as the point where the center lines of the two roads through the center of spawn cross (they are an even number of blocks wide, so they each have a center line, not a center block). The "center block" of this build (the place I stood when I created the schematic) is the block for which that "center point" is the block's northeast corner.
