    Question?

While we can sell various ingots back to the server, and some tools, albeit, very cheaply for wood and stone understandably, is there a reason we cannot sell things like iron or gold armor & tools back to the server with /sell hand? I do a lot of fishing and with the added drops (which I LOVE) I'm accumulating a chest full of stuff that if nobody buys, is worthless and it'd be nice to be able to cash that in since I did work for it. It's all repaired as I have the feature to do this so it's not like I'm selling back junk for top dollar.

Suggestion might be to make it worth say... 75% of what it would cost if it were made of ingots. That way it's still more profitable to sell the ingots instead of making them into armor or tools to just /sell hand. And if you make it that only completely repaired items can be sold this way... well, those with repair will have added benefit and business repairing others stuff.

    Just some thoughts.... Thanks!

i just know that diamond tools are disabled to prevent accidentally selling star tools. Also chain armor because it is also star items

That makes sense and I'd keep any diamond or chain I had anyway. I thinking more about iron and gold... especially gold tools & armor since they aren't that useful.

We should be able to sell unenchanted armor/tools.

As far as I know that is not possible...IIRC it's even like that that tools lose their enchantments when put in trade signs, so essentials seems to ignore them completely.

I only want to sell un-enchanted stuff I repair from fishing, like iron tools and iron armor, and gold tools and gold armor to the server. I know I can sell to others in signs... it's just not many will by the cheaper gold/iron stuff.

What I meant is, that as far as I know (Might be wrong) the /sell command and the trade signs are from the same plugin have similar characteristics, for example not differentiating between enchanted and unenchanted tools.

I see we can sell iron tools back to the server. How come an iron ingot is $7.50 each and an iron spade (shovel) which is made of 1 iron ingot and 1 stick is only worth $0.05? I can understand stone & wood being this way but it takes 3 iron ingot to make an iron pick and it too is only $o.05. Seem like these should be worth more because of their better durability and because they're made up of more expensive materials. Thoughts anyone else?

I guess I'm wondering if I'm the only one who's thought about this. I don't want to cause trouble if I'm the only one who cares about this. I just like being self sufficient so I do a lot of /sell hand stuff and was curious if there was a reason why /worth for items were not in line with the /worth of the materials they're made up of. And yes, if I'm not alone in this thought, then I'll figure out where to make the suggestion. :)

Yes, it takes 3 ingots and 2 sticks to make a pick and the material costs are listed as much higher than the "finished product". However, once you use the ingots and sticks to make the pick, you can't get them back. An ingot can be used in many different items, but a pick can only be used in one.

Good point. As I'm not in the business of making tools I don't intend on using, I always sell my ingots instead.

I understand what you are asking here and completely agree - it would be great to get some value from items that are worked for. It is too bad that armor and tools cannot be broke back down (like most blocks) so that the materials can be reused. This would be best formatted as a suggestion in my opinion.
