Okay so lets say I bought a plot of land in a town. I build a house and now I want to sell it in an auction, but the owner of the town won't let me. Is it just me or does this seem unfair? I bought the plot so now I own it so doesn't that mean I should be allowed to do with it as I please, including selling it?

This is not real life. This is Minecraft and technically, if you buy a plot from a town, it is still technically owned by the town. If you do not follow the rules set in place by the town, your plot will be taken away. They can do this because the town still has ownership.

Alright I see where you guys are coming from but it just makes sense that Ive bought that plot so I should be able to sell it. That's all. And yeah he can kick me out but I should, in my opinion, be able to buy a plot and sell it.

When you buy a plot, you are not actually the owner of the said piece of land. No matter what, the owner/mayor of the town has the final word. They make the rules for there respective town. You should always ask to see the town rules before you but a plot as well as the server rules found on the wiki under "living in a town". I my self do not support the sale of plots in my town from anyone but myself, as it is bothersome. I tell my town residents that they may choose to leave but will not get a refund from there plot. In my towns and most towns in the server this is the case.

And that's where I'm confused. I don't understand how you pay for something but then aren't considered the owner. And I did check the rules before buying and there was no rule against selling of property. IMO I should be allowed to sell it. Now I'm not going to complain about or anything obviously because I'm obviously outnumbered. The plot was only 1k anyways but still. I think It'd be fun if I was allowed to buy plots, build houses and sell them. It'd be like house flipping. But obviously I won't be able to do stuff like that until I own a town...

My town allows sales. With tax. It all depends on the town; most do not allow it.
Here's my boring rules thread. -
I allow sales without tax. I don't really care much for regulations, so you can kinda do whatever in my towns, besides things of destructive nature. I think that once a plot is sold, then the town owner transfers the proprietary right to the buyer. Exceptions come when the building violates rules, or if the owner is stupidly inactive from the server. Plot repossession needs to have some regulations... towns owners have way too much power at the moment.
