What Happens On August 1st?
This is a question many of you are currently asking yourself. On August 1st we will see the fastest decline in the price of a product in ECC history. How do I know this? How does it affect you? And why will it decrease in price?
I know this thanks to Mojang's release of Minecraft Snapshot Downloads. I have officially tested this firsthand, and know how it will affect ECC's economy. Here is a brief list of changes to Minecraft's xp system:
1. The highest level of enchantment is 30.
2. Xp seems to be dropped in much greater quantities from mobs.
3. Xp can be earned from simply mining (meaning builders will be able to earn Xp)
4. Taking an item out of furnaces gives you Xp (meaning a builder can go and get Xp for mining iron, use /kit starter and and smelt the iron at no cost, so they receive even more Xp.)
5. Destroying Mob Spawners gives more Xp. (meaning that lazy miners in the mining world can destroy spawners instead of selling off the coords, causing a shortage of spawners from both these lazy miners and miners with malicious intent.)
6. People will be less likely to sell mob spawner coords, due to the fact that Xp collection is likely to be more beneficial and faster for their own enchanting needs.
7. BUILDERS CAN GET XP IN THE WILD
8. BUILDERS CAN GET XP IN THE WILD
9. BUILDERS CAN GET XP IN THE WILD
10. Consider these things, and realize that the price is highly likely to drop, while the price of spawners goes up.
I recommend that if you have Xp that is not for your own enchanting sell it before the price drops. (btw I know I probably just contributed to ECC Xp market collapse since I wrote the in the forums. But I would still like to help those who took a few brief minutes out of their day to read my thread.)
As a side note due to this (at a much slower rate) melon farming will become more popular thanks to the fact that it will be easier to get Effy and silk touch axes with the new update of Minecraft.
Also another side note ores will probably have a slight decrease in value, as it will become easier to get a silk touch pick.
One last side note, bookshelves will likely have a fluctuating and unpredictable market, so I would consider starting at least a small sugarcane farm.

Leather and paper is gonna SKYROCKET in the next few months. Everyone will be wanting to make their own books. Not to mention everyone will want to make ender chests too.

I suggest people will also look at the exp calculator in my signature, it shows how many mobs you have to kill or how much you have to mine/smelt to reach a specific level, this can be used as a comparison between post1.3 and pre1.3.

I agree with 1-9 of the points for the most part. Point 3- Only certain ores drop xp, not all. Point 7, 8 and 9- uhhh.....ok?? Point 10, I don't so much agree with, since the chance of getting TOP level enchantments are significantly reduced, meaning you could spend all 30 levels of XP, and only come out with an unbreaking 3 item. Also, there are people like myself who never farm xp(and never will), and buy it whenever I need it, or just buy the tools from people selling it. I have long pondered what will happen to the XP market in the coming update, but if nobody panics and says things like this:

I find this GREAT for builders so they can get money.
Nothing wrong with builders getting money and TRYING to rank up on this wonderful server -

Thank you all for your comments on my thread.
Snowbleie that is a very good observation and I will quote you in my upcoming massive thread about "ECC and 1.3". I am making a book right now with the snapshot download. I will post it soon, and as of Ender Chests, I am still trying to fully understand how it will work on servers, Jeb hasn't been to clear on it. Also Cocoa beans are going to be pretty big. /kit mobs is going to be coming in to play quite soon.
z1967 TKick is one of ECC's best farmers and I agree that he has a great farm.
Kukulekuuk Congrats on becoming a game admin, and I also recommend that, I will mention it in "ECC and 1.3"
Lavajok You are absolutely right about only certain ores dropping xp, only Coal, Redstone, Lapis, Diamond, and Emerald give xp directly, you have to smelt iron and gold to get xp from them. In reference to what I said, it was a joke, plus this entire thread is truly an assumption as well as many aspects of my upcoming ECC book and thread "ECC and 1.3". I am still not entirely familiar with new enchantment system, still kind of working it, I'm playing in the snapshot now, but that comment Is just me saying that their is likely to be more ore on the market, and this is an economy server, IT FOLLOWS THE LAW OF SUPPLY AND DEMAND. Thank you for your thoughts and comments.
Synwannabe This is an amazing server. And I don not dislike builders in general, I was a builder once, you were, we all were (except for andrewkm). In some ways that was a positive statement not an angry one, I buy xp and what I get from spawners I use, I don't like to sell it, so if a builder sells me xp I would be happy to buy it. -

Lavajok I hate to call you out, but their is actually higher chances of getting multiple enchantments, and better enchantments in the new update

I see this now!! Just read the entire pre-release notes on it. A little frustrated because originally it was supposed to be harder to get high level enchants :(

Yeah, for a minute I thought I was wrong when I read your post, so I went and looked up, but it's still cool, I was testing the snapshot and got (on my first try) Bane of Arthropods IV Knockback II sword, Silk Touch Effy III pick, And an Effy IV Fortune III Axe
