As the current world will be destroyed in 2.5 weeks, or so, I propose that all world's files be jammed into a rar and be made available for download. Many people have built interesting things in the wild and, while they have time to dismantle the structures, they might wish to transfer those structures onto their own systems (for use in SSP). Accomplishing this would be relatively easy. The world is currently stored in one directory that can be compressed into a rar, or broken up into several files. That file can be hosted on the forum or, if space is at a premium, be placed on adf.ly. That way, everyone can keep the things they've made, even though those structures won't be in to new world.
ok im confused some ppl say 2 weeks some people say tomorrow. I THNK its in the next couple weeks i thnk tomorrow they are making the new map (im not sure) and we will probably have a portal back to the old world so... GET YO FACTS STRAIGHT
My understanding is that the current world becomes the old world on Saturday. Once it's the old world, it'll be accessible through a portal for 2 weeks. At the end of that time, it will cease to exist.
Read the news... IT SAYS "If Everything goes well the downtime will be taking place this saturday (tomarrow)
Actually, Yes, there will be a downtime tomorrow, however, the old map will still exist for a couple more weeks. The news state that you will be able to travel back to the old world to collect and move items. If it gets deleted, it will still be at least a couple more weeks so that people can travel back and collect their items in those 14 days. So yes, it won't be deleted tomorrow...
I'm guessing the current map we are playing on will stay 1.7.3 until the new 1.8 map is fully up, which will be late Saturday/sometime Sunday... Depending on how things go. -shrugs-
