A more dangerous resource world. I said that the problem here is we have a grand total of like, three people, who are actually interested in PvP. Trying to push PvP onto two worlds to make it difficult and risky just makes them both less so. We've tried that with the nether and lets be honest - even before the bug that currently affects nether PvP was a thing, there was nobody in the nether to PvP. Maybe it would be the best, but that's been the case for years and has so obviously failed in the nether due to the abundance of features that simply let people avoid PvP
You said 2x, what I'm trying to say is you're going to need much more than that to make dieing a possibility for most players. As I said it's failed because it's been ignored. If the changes that have been suggested over the years got out through nether would be in a much better spot. Also the features that let people avoid PvP would just as easily let people avoid PvE. The nether is meant to be dangerous, you have such a small risk in PvE because you can go get your stuff back most of the time. If you want dangerous PvP is the best way to go.
You say PvP is the best way to go... but how dangerous has the nether been in the past few years. Not at all, right? There's no point in advocating for something that's already failed.
There is a point. Nether is supposed to be dangerous as a PvP world right now. Unfortunately it's way to big, you can vanish, you can fly, you can tp out, and it's much harder to quickly kill someone in this update. Nether currently is only PvP in name, but it's completely unsuitable for PvP and so no PvPer will waste their time there. That is why it has seemingly failed, not because of PvP not being dangerous. On another note, just look at the end. Though it's not perfect there's no fly, no vanish and you can use /near and it's pretty dangerous.
But if The End already serves that purpose, why should the nether, too? IMO, changing the nether to be PVE focused adds some variation to ECC; Having 2 pvp worlds doesn't.
The End is not even a dedicated PvP world, and until a large chunk of changes go through it won't be. Currently it's just a resource world with some PvP to make it relatively dangerous. As I've said making nether more PvE based wouldn't make it dangerous in the slightest for most people. So you'd just be making another resource world, but we already have the mining world and main world so what's the point of that? No variation there IMO. Adding more PvE elements is fine but unless you keep PvP and make some changes the nether is just gonna be another boring resource world.
This. Much this. (btw I'd love PvE Nether, if that wasn't obvious enough and I didn't state it earlier)
Yes, I know, I helped design the End for PvP. Removing a bunch of features from the nether just isn't a practical solution though, so PvP isn't practical either.
I think that's not what he's saying: he's saying that we already have a true PvP world (End) and therefore Nether can be made PvE. So, either we remove the pvp flag if we want to remove fly and vanish as well, or we leave those three as they are; but, in any case, mobs spawn rates and stats should be buffed, as they are currently too easy and boring to deal with. At least, this was my understanding.
I have those myself and totally forgot about the issue lol. I think they would be somehow justified if they decided to remove vanish from nether: what you mostly pay for the investigator feature (investigating ability) is still there, and the ability to vanish in the three remaining worlds as well. (I don't get why they put investigating ability and vanish ability in the same feature tbh, but that's a different matter) Fly is a completely different story: you used to have to get FlyPlus to add fly ability just to the three mining/nether/aether worlds; 1/3 is already missing, but if they remove the second one people might start feeling ripped off...
No. Removing these features from the nether, while ideal in creating a more dangerous world, is simply not a feasible solution. Really trivial thing but flying in the Aether was actually regular Fly, not Fly+. er, no. I'm not suggesting we remove any features. Simply that we remove PvP, and buff other dangers in the nether.
I like this idea, most pvp as of now is concentrated in the end. There isn't enough pvp interest to have two pvp worlds, and I think some tough PvE would be a nice change since it's something ECC is currently lacking.
I think it would benefit from it because there's simply not enough nether interest. only people who want pvp will pvp against people just working, and most of the nether miners just want to mine +1
Just don't take away my fly abilities and I'm golden to have the nether be harder, in whatever sense of the word.
