Well since I'm now in this game, guess my two cents deserve to enter here.
(1.) I'm Wolvie... I over-exaggerate Everything.
(2.) My Diamonds weren't put into the Economy surplus, I still have all of them So them having any effect on the Economy is null and void.
(3.) If you had Aether and Fly you'd be doing this and I bet you wouldn't be complaining.
(4.) Most of them are gone now, i had a private corner of the Aether that no-one had touched that's why i got them so fast... the rest of the map - as exclaimed already has been raided.
(5.) Blood Diamonds - Enough Said.
(6.) I had a fortune 3 Pickaxe. . . Hence I got so many So Fast.
(7.) I Paid for Aether access and all its benefits, If you had that easy "$20,000" Why haven't you got Aether?... I'm pretty sure its because you've heard how much Aether Sucks (Which is now being fixed with farming and competitions). The Fact Aether is finally getting me - and a few others money *FINALLY*, is just its way of repaying us for getting Aether.
(8.) Its not an Exploit, Aether is advertised as floating islands (Skyland) so the fact there's exposed minerals is widely known, You don't seem to be complaining about Iron/Gold/Lapis/Redstone. Your ONLY Issue is with Diamonds. This being said your Either being Ignorant or Bias because you can't get "Diamonds".
(9.) I can fly in actual caverns on the real world too, getting resources from the exposed roofs etc, I paid for fly so that I can do this and so that i can build easier.
(10.) You Dragged me Into this your self. You THREW me into this, you didn't have too, Kuke announced how many Diamonds he got in a previous post. Now you've got my Opinion and my reasoning to deal with.

Even if the diamonds will be gone soon, no one seems to be realizing the huge influx of diamonds in the economy. And when I say in the economy, I mean in inventories of anyone, because anyone can sell diamonds.
Yes, you can get the same amount of diamonds in the normal world. No, you cannot get the same amount of diamonds in the same amount of time in the normal world.
Normal world mining, with no Aether mining, means diamonds get gathered and used at a steady rate. Unless you only mine for diamonds and avoid everything else for hours upon days, you won't have as many as you've gathered now from the Aether in a mere hour or two.
When anyone or many people have stacks of diamonds in a short time, they can have control over diamond price. They can hoard all diamonds and no one will ever get any via buying them. And since price is controlled, those people can essentially make the price low enough to buy out all diamonds for cheap. It was like this before, possibly with less diamonds, and the whole diamond economy fell off the face of the earth. :/ -
Justifying doing it by saying well its finite, or I lose some to the void because I don't wanna waste the time to put a small platform of dirt or cobble under them to catch it, why bother when you are getting so many per hour without doing it. I have done legit mining on the normal map for several hours and gotten a whopping 9 diamonds, some of it is bad luck, some of it is the small tunnels people with xray mod used to clean out those sections more then likely. So I trade money I have made from farming and other resources mined to acquire diamonds from people selling, its not a big deal to me kids. Newsflash though, diamonds on the regular map are finite too, doesn't mean its ok to let people with the xray mod collect all the diamonds on it that are left and say "well they were about gone anyway". Your arguments to make it ok in your mind and try to not seem like you did what you did are very weak. You didn't break any rules, in fact its been known for awhile now and it was mostly super mods doing it apparently. Thats the most dissappointing part. I expect kids who are fresh and don't care about a balanced economy to take advantage of exploits, not the people tasked with maintaining the economy's integrity. So, say I am jealous, say I would do it to if I could, whatever makes you feel better about it, I think you feel a little guilty or you wouldn't react like you have. No server will be perfect and I give Andrew alot of credit for coming up with a great system to get people interested in investing time and money but something like this shows the economy is a bad joke if you don't know the short cuts. Most of the common players would never know about it even if not for a couple presidents bragging about their gains and success on global. -
1. Buy Aether
2. Install Optifine
3. Walk Around
4. Press CTRL when something looks shiny. (zooms in)
5. ????
6. Harvest and enjoy.
(For you non-flyers)
Donations are to be bought for an advantage over other people in the game. It makes perfect sense why flyers have an advantage over non-flyers. -
a) We're not justifying it by saying it's finite, or we lose lots to the void, but we do. We're justifying it by saying we not only have to pay 20,000 ecodollars to enter the aether, we also have to buy fly for $60 USD.
b) It's not an exploit, it's the same thing as me worldediting a ravine and then mining all the exposed diamonds and stuff out (which I have done, too, in case you need something else to whine about)
[Edit]
RE: Bolded part:
"couple presidents": why the president hate? Becoming a president takes a lot of work and costs a lot of money.
everything else in the bolded part: I guess we're just making the economy more realistic then :) -

Wally, you know how people sell diamonds on the AUC or Trade?... a fair portion of those diamonds ( i would say AT-LEAST 50%) were obtained by X-ray and sold to users (Before they were caught and banned) meaning half the diamonds you probably have ever gotten have been found by an X-Ray user and you don't even know it.

I disagree that its "Mainly super-mods" committing this action you find heinous, in-fact in my view its mainly the users who have taken money out of their own pockets to donate towards the server in support of it who are doing it. I paid 60 U.S Dollars for the donation of flying, and while i mainly use it for building and such, the fact of the matter is you need to make money to be able to afford the materials to build the massive structures which people, including myself, construct.
You see all of those "I'm a [..........] on Ecocitycraft" tags in peoples signatures? The one on the right is the Brandenburg Gate, a monument i have constructed four times, something that costed me a good amount of money and something that would not have been possible if i did not partake in parts of the economy, such as the lottery or the fire-selling of items like diamonds, which people dislike.
You seem to suggest that this is no-better than X-RAY modding. The thing i don't understand is that you are trying to defend and economy which is, in my mind, not a user-economy at all. The only thing which is traded between users as a commodity are Diamonds and Experience. The majority of users use these diamonds up pretty quickly, including myself because i enchant my tools with efficiency because i cannot stand the normal amount of time it takes for a diamond pickaxe to mine.
In addition, you fail to realize the fact that while X-RAY modding is heavily cracked down on, a portion of the diamonds(Perhaps even 50%), were sold by users who were later on caught for X-Ray modding. Infact, it was once a practice for members to buy diamonds from people who were about to be banned for X-Ray, then keep the diamonds once the citizens were removed from the server permanently. This was never a problem until recently with the onslaught of more members.
You seem to think that its going to effect the price of diamonds, but has it really done such? I still see people selling diamonds for one hundred dollars a piece, an astoundingly high price for something i view isn't worth all that much. A few stacks of diamonds aren't much in the long run, mainly because of the fact that there are alot of diamonds out there, its just the simple fact that people will under-cut each other to get their items sold.
I have a market-store where i sell diamonds for 80 dollars a piece, while other users all around me sell them for $100+. Its not the amount of diamonds on the "market" which effects the price, its the span of time people are willing to spend to get those items sold. If they need money immediately, they're more than willing to sell their diamonds for far less than they would if they weren't in a rush for cash. I have been on this server since around its public-launch start, and i have never once seen prices in diamonds drop merely for the fact that there were alot on the market. They dropped because people needed money, and needed money fast. I'll give you an example.
Three to four months ago, i held the largest stockpile of diamonds on the server, between 1,500-2,000. I had no problem until i needed money, and that was when diamonds sold for around 120 dollars/piece. What i did to get them sold was i began to drop their prices dramatically, i was one of the few who priced them at an astronomically low price(for the time) of 90 dollars a piece. It got to the point where no one else sold any diamonds for the mere fact that "Ike sells them for cheaper", so everyone else began to drop their prices down-ward. At that point in time was when it was not me, but the majority of the server, that was acting towards the lowering of the price of diamonds. It got so low that prices dropped to Fifty Seven Dollars a Piece, a price that has not been seen since.
Its not the amount of diamonds that are being flushed into the market that cause the price to drop, its when someone with alot of them stock-piled up decides they want them sold quickly so they under-cut the price for a guaranteed sell, which you don't seem to understand. -
I listed a couple presidents because it was wolvie and ievolive that alerted the community at large about how cool they they were at finding exposed diamonds in the aether. I list you as presidents because thats the title that normally shows up when you post a message in global, would you prefer to be called something else? The super mods are not playing by a different set of rules, I am aware, I stated serveral times that no rules were broken, its was just dirtyness of it that seemed wrong coming from some of them. After that you are on a full tangent of things you read between lines to pull out of the air so I stopped reading, its not a mud slinging fest you and evo or his friend ike are making it out to be. Its a suggestion to Andrew and developers I suppose that have the ability to make it happen if they wanted. I haven't head of mods getting any perks like they would on most servers for donating their time, maybe to them it felt like payment for all the volunteering, so be it, some took advantage of it and some didn't feel right about it. People are free to play how they want, if feeling like you made something special or became cool to bunch of unknowns on a game like mc helps you sleep at night wolvie, I guess its healthier then drugs or alcohol buddy.

Excuse me? Please do inform me how I'm "Mud Slinging". I'm trying to inform you on MY view of this suggestion and how i'm completely against this suggestion, and i'm even providing examples from my experience on this server to back them up. Thats in no way "slinging mud" as you like to call it.
I also suggest you try not to nonchalantly call out users like you did in your final sentence.
