Quick question: why is observer block disabled? Will it ever be enabled? I don't see a way it could be exploited for dupes, but I can't see a way it would create more lag than any other simple redstone component either, so... why?

If I recall correctly, redstone clocks are not allowed only because they create lag due to the fact they're constantly broadcasting block updates to all players, and not for other reasons such as gameplay or whatever. So do you mean observers constantly send block updates as well? I thought they just detected block updates and, if detected, then sent the redstone signal (which would actually send a block update to all players). What am I missing/misunderstanding? -
The reasoning was detailed in full in our release notes, but this is an example of why we don't want them.

Pardon me, I can't find these release notes in our forum/wiki: does "our" mean "ECC's"?

An observer block is constantly looking to see if the block adjacent to it changed. They easily lag if you place a bunch of them.
