@Nicit6 a question on town rules. Imagine that my town rules say that "you can't steal from someone else's chest, even if unprotected" and "if you violate town rules, you will be evicted without notice". But I'm not making a contract every time, so it's just an agreement (much alike @314 depicted). Question: despite the fact they can't be banned from server (no breach of contract, unprotected chests are fair play), I am still allowed to evict them with no 3-day prior notice because they agreed to that, am I correct?
No. Per the rules (section 5 clause 3) there are only 3 criteria where you can evict without an eviction notice: However, under the following circumstances, the 3 day eviction criteria need not be met and the user may be removed from the town: A user is inactive (by staff standards, this means at least 7 days offline.) A user who has been banned for griefing in the town or warned by a staff member as a result of a Grief Report. Players added to a region for a specific job upon completion of work or termination of employment. Violating town rules, whether specifically agreed to or not, does not grant permission to evict without notice.
I just thumbed through the revision history of the rules, appears that line was taken out in november 2014.
Ugh. Now that I see it, I kinda recall that you could remove a member without notice if that member was griefing the town. But, according to the current rules, I can evict him immediately only after he's banned from the server for that reason: it seems that I must let him damage to the end, but this doesn't make sense. Is there something more somewhere else in the rules that I'm missing, or do the current rules actually prevent me from preventing him to do more damage? On a side note: are you still offering that contract review service? As you might imagine, I'm refurbishing my town rules and will probably make a town thread à la 314, and it might need some form of review at some point before publishment.
Sort of a grey area there, we can't really allow removing people before they've been caught in a grief report as we don't allow player investigations to count towards officially determining grief. If you catch someone griefing your town, you're supposed to grab a moderator immediately and they can deal with it. (In practice however I don't think anyone would object to removing someone you actually caught griefing right away provided you immediately filed a grief report and had it handled otherwise by the book). It's not so much a service as just looking over them when people ask. But I do still do it.
Oh, I recall you offered it as a paid service, outside of staff duty I mean. Maybe during a time when you were not staff? Or I might recall wrongly. I was asking because I know I'm a pain in the ass and time is money, so it would be more than appropriate to remunerate it. Should I send you my draft via forum pm?
