    Started to play on this server infrequently about a year ago, haven't been on in a few months and decided to log in and everything is gone.
    How often do player.dat files get removed? Is it based on inactivity or is it just server-wide reset?
    Would my balance have been kept safe if had I deposited to the forum all those months ago?

    Also make sure that whatever city you reside in the mayor doesn't take advantage of players who go inactive. Some people will evict you and file to have your chest unlocked after a mere week. Others wont after months and months. Ask your mayor what their policy is like and you can search to see often a mayor files for removals.

    As long as your chests are safe in a town that doesn't evict often, you only have to log in once a year to avoid the LCW clean up to make sure those items don't get lost too. And Enderchest's data is delete with player.dat if I recall correctly so don't store things there.
