I was going to purchase an upgrade from Skylord to Skylegend since there is a discount on it now. When I went to check out, the price increase was $65 instead of $30, since I paid full price on Skylord a couple years back. Why is it assuming that I only paid the current discounted price of Skylord at $65? Is there a way to get around this?

So if I pay $65 towards Skylegend, then I will have a paid total of $165 for it. Someone new with no rank at all buys Skylegend for $130. How is that fair??? That is the point I was trying to make.

I get it, marketing ploy. Giving me 65% credit towards what I have put into this server is all you will give me. Got it. New person to the server pays $130 for the same thing I have to pay $165 for. Don't say we get 100% what we have put into ranks towards the next rank, because that just isn't true and is dishonest. Don't worry, I won't say any more about this. I won't be spending any more money either.

Right now, you're still getting 35% (+ the code) off of what you would normally spend, which is a good compromise for uniformity and fairness.
Your complaint is the equivalent of being upset that you didn't access a sale when you bought your feats, which is patently absurd. You choose to get the feats when you did, and knew that if you waited you make have been able to get a better deal.-
