b]Item:[/b] Sugarcane
Data Value: 338
Current Price: $0.30
Suggested Price: $0.35
Brief Description: Sugarcane is still not one of the main items that are being farmed. There are not many sugarcane farms and it is not a common crop.
Open Discussion: Anvils have recently been added to ecc. Many users who have ext commands + are offering to combine the enchantments together to users for a price and they have to supply xp. Due to this, many users now have Eff V with Silk touch tools. This has made farming of melons, and especially pumpkins, a lot faster. For sugarcane, there is no way to farm it faster unless you have fly. Many users use fly for pumpkin farming as well, this makes the process a lot faster, and with the amt. of Efficiency Fives right now, pumpkin farming is in higher demand. So why not raise the price of sugarcane? This update has made two types of farming easier. The farming that it has not affected is wheat and sugarcane (not counting netherwart, because I have never farmed it) . Wheat sold to the server is $1.25 and can easily be turned into a semi-auto farm using redstone lamps. The only way sugarcane can be autofarmed is with water, which ruins the bottom stalk of sugar cane and you have to replant again. Melons and pumpkins don't even need manual replanting. So why is sugarcane not even half the price of a pumpkin, I have no idea. The price needs to be changed due to anvils.
Feel free to disuss this down below.

The problem is using rockdassie's Reed farm people can make 17k a hour. A price change would
Mean they would be making far too much money. -

Anyway, I do agree that sugarcane should be increased. It is a little low at the moment. -
Only 1 person has a farm big enough to make 15k an hour farming sugarcane. so in order to make that amount you must buy fly donation $60usd and spend 200 plus hours building the farm. Not to mention building a cane farm is the hardest of all crops to build. I have a 16x32x45 took me over 70 hours to build and i have fly my farm makes 3k/hour. now I also built a 100x100x4 melon farm witch makes 10k an hour and took about the same time to build.

My 50x50 reed farm makes under $500 per harvest. I can make $500 by farming 333 melons which takes me under 10 minutes to do, easily.

Reeds are just fine, as some of you may know, I decided upon this price when I was a GA.
I picked this price because I could make 20k an hour with 0.40, now it's 15k an hour.
This is good because reedfarming does not require any donation features. -

Please note that a different farm layout+farming technique is what makes the difference, I've had many months of experience with reed farming seeing as I've been on ECC for 17 months and reed farming was the only way to make a living. (And there was no fly back then)
We've perfected farming without fly, and that is why reeds won't receive a price increase.
pumpkins/melons require eff 5 and fly to reach 20k, wheat requires an immense farm to be that profitable. -
