The pumpkin axe that many users claim to be a pumpkin axe is not a star tool. The star tool axe cost the same as a star pickaxe.
When you were a resident, the pumpkin price was a lot higher than it is now. The price of a melon sword was half of what it is today (1000 stars vs 2000), and melons were 2 dollars a block. Donations ran around 3k per usd not 6k+. Face it, you had it easier than new players today. +1 it's time things got easier for new players to be successful, not harder.
Ok, so lets just make pumpkins $1. Then players like me, with all the donation features required to make max profit, go out and make buckets of money. It isn't like that is a bad thing. Hell, lets make pumpkin $10 each! then everyone can be rich!
I'd like pumpkins to be raised, but it's not going to happen. I can't tell if $1 is serious or not, that's more than melons...
You will make more money, yes, however that money will be worth less and the more money you make, everyone's money becomes worth less and less.
Pumpkins will never ever increased to more than $0.60. If they did the economy would just be destroyed.
When I was a builder, Wheat was $1.25, Pumpkins were $1, and melons were $2. Donations were 5k per USD. I bought my own donations at the time with my own cash, I sold water placements, I mined and auctioned what I mined, I made a towering wheat farm and worked days upon days to get Resident. The fact of the matter is we all start at the bottom. We all start in a place where it is hard to get up and we still get up. If you don't get up, then you are doing something wrong. Builders have never had it easy and they never will. This is not an easy game to master and if we make it easy then it loses its staying power.
Think out of the box people... pumpkins and melons are not the only way to make money... go build something for someone if you have the talent, go find something that you can economically take advantage of. If you want easy money, then work with a mayor as a co mayor and sell plots, a best mix of all these things will lead to great riches and wealth. Mindless farming is not the way to making it big. (If you like farming explore the other crops alot of them make more then pumpkins anyway)
