Making more than melons is ridiculous. Andrew has said many times he wants nothing making more than melons.

And your assumption couldn't be more terribly wrong, I prefer not to grind for money at all as it boring. I prefer to vote and build, sell plots and play SG. I have never tried woodcutting and probably never will. I don't see how flying around and chopping trees is that fun either.

 

I was getting around 30k/hour before the nerf. I think the .20 price is fair.

That would put the current gain at around 15k an hour.

That seems like a reasonable price, just like melons.

 

I'll provide some details:

I use Eff 10 Axe, 1000 woodcutting, mcmmobonusplusx3, fly/speed and extcommands+. I have tested with Eff5 axe, and it performed similarly, I would estimate at 90% of the Eff10 Axe's performance.

My farm is 50x300 with 10 rows of 60 trees each (600 total mega-trees).

I use walking speed 10 because it is easier to get around the leaves this way. You break the leaves at height 2, and if you happen to have unbroken leaves at height 1, you just jump over them.

On a good run, I can break all 60 trees on a single Tree Feller. This does not break my Eff10 Axe. I only need to do /repair once between every row.

If you move fast, you can almost replant the entire row before Tree Feller is ready again. You get more than enough saplings to do all replants. The trees re-grow naturally without the need for bonemeal.

btw, this can still be highly profitable if you can find other players to buy bulk wood products.

 

One of the things I like to say is, "fruit that comes from your own garden tastes sweeter." What this means is that it's always more satisfactory to make money from hard work and effort rather than holding down a mouse button forever. A slight increase (say .20 -> .25) would be beneficial as it would likely bring in more donations, more attention to woodcutting, and wouldn't necessarily hurt the melon market too terribly bad. For that, I give this a +1

You don't have to "train", just farm. You even suggested that the reason it needs a buff is because you buy mcmmo bonuses.

you are basically born with tree feller
although I do see getting enchanted as hard work, I don't see once you achieve the items needed to get 15k-20k profit that it's hard work.

I'm just trying to say that a point that keeps coming up is the "two clicking" and standing in a line junk, even though it is similar with a little bit of added work to melon farming.

 

What exactly do you mean by maintaining leaves on trees? I haven't farmed trees for money (I didn't know anyone did until today) so I wouldn't know. I thought that the leaves despawned after you broke the trees.

 

Mcmmo training with macro is allowed, but training woodcutting with the use of macros/autoclickers is illegal as there is potential profit to be made from the wood and saplings and even leaves. This also applies to mining, excavation, farming. You may however train all pvp abilities with macromod so long as you are not afk. I would ask that you not follow ohmrs instructions on this. Ohmrs, because you KNOW three people with woodcutting at 1000 does not mean that's how many there are. I can name 6 off the top of my head. It's not a hard skill to max, but I think it deserves a reward. .30 would be a good price for them.

 

I would bet at least a dozen people have 1000 woodcutting, also, it only takes about 15 hours of woodcutting to get to that top level. However, I still think that woodcutting should make more than melon farming. It takes more concentration than melon farming (which is practically "afkable"), all the same donations (extcommands+, fly) as melon farming as well as mcmmobonus+ *3 ($90), extcommands++ (practically essential, as you run through more than an axe per row) ($50) and getting to 1000 is 4x as easy if you have Mcmmo+ *3, so that is practically an essential.
