I currently have over 2,000 grilled pork saved from from using /kit starter. I don't eat pork, I eat potatoes. I do /kit starter every chance I can. Same with every other kit.
I think the main reason food and for that matter, every other block/item in the spawn shop is expensive is to encourage players to trade with each other. If we lower the prices then inter-player trading could go down if it reaches a low enough level. That said, @AgentHare, I think the price reductions you mentioned are really reasonable and is probably at a good price point. This discussion brings up an interesting debate over this "food shortage" for new players. I think a lot of it has to do with just lack of overall knowledge. They might be coming into the game expecting towns to have farms or being able to just go into the wild and find a random spot to make their house/farm. There are a few builder towns out there that help with each facet of EcoCityCraft necessary facilities (ex: farms). Maybe we could lower price points for the food shop and also increase awareness of these towns that offer these things?
Since the server price of an nstar is ~$150, not $400, then it looks like the server prices you list are right in line with what you want.
-1 I don't see why this is needed unless your collect it? Because half of ecc are farmlands now so food is not in short supply.
Oh sorry for not being clear xp what I mean is I don't see a need for it. ECC is mainly farm land and it's not hard to make a farm in minecraft. Unless you don't like meat (in a videogame) it's very easy to find food. from what I understand from this suggestion you want an increase in food prices to match an nstar server price? This is fine but 8 pork chops are not with a nstar that's absurd. Maybe 20 or 30! But not 8. I agree with moofink when I see a builder buying food with nstars ... it makes me face palm I usually just give them food because I have a carrot farm. With the pork chops and salmon prices if raised that will give a new revenue to fishing and anyone who uses /starter I mean look at em he's collected 2000 pork chops just from a free service I personally have 2 stacks at home. Also when I fish I get so many salmon it's annoying X) if they price was higher I would be rich rich rich lol. Overall if this were to be implemented the price of the food should not be changed only the amount given.
I know this is very, very old. However, the food shop still sells food items for 1 netherstar only. This is the only shop to do so, and there seems to be no reason for it. I continue to suggest that food is purchasable via ECD in this shop. Since this suggestion, netherstars have increased in value, so the pricing is even more ridiculous now.
Agreed - the way it is set up could mislead many users and discourage them following the realization that they had wasted so much money.
+1 If a mod is reading this, please, and I mean PLEASE don't lock it for necroing. Only about 1 in 8 suggestions actually get looked at by the SAs, and this is one of the gems that slipped by. I fully support of this because the current food shop misleads builders. Just tell builders about the market stations when they join so they can sell their nstars and buy food there.
All lowering food prices to a more realistic level would do is just discourage the player market, by forcing vendors to compete with the server to the point where it simply just isn't lucrative to sell food anymore. Instead of needlessly meddling with the prices and discouraging the player market, I'd much rather get rid of the food shop altogether as there is an infinite supply of food ingame - The server food shop serves literally no point. Much better to just remove something that's broken and pointless than trying to fix it and creating more problems in the process.
I do not think these prices will even come close to being competitive with regular market prices. For example, I saw a sign that had 10 bread for 20 ECD. At the current pricing at the food shop, it is 10 bread for 1 netherstar. The prices listed can be changed, but no, the goal is to not be realistic. It is simply to be consistent with the other shops as well as making food a stable price, not the constantly changing netherstar. It is for new users or old users who do not want to have to walk through the laggy market to try to find food for sale, which after looking at part of the market it took 3,4,5 shops to come by. I do not think the food business has ever been especially lucrative due to the /feed feature and food being essential to minecraft gameplay it is important to have it decently accessible and not crazy expensive. I disagree. The block, color, netherstar, wood shops have not prevented any profits from the player market and they are used (at least by me) as a way to quickly buy things in bulk. Also shops like these take money out of the economy because after all the prices are heavily inflated and outrageous. The food shop should be the same- buying things in bulk for huge prices (but always reliable) while not trying to compete with user markets. The food shop if I believe correctly was made when netherstars were 200-300 ECD and honestly its outdated. So no, do not get rid of it.
